My Review: If you don’t know of my love for the Archers of Avalon series yet, I suggest you take a moment to read my reviews for Anew and Awry. Now, you probably also know of my fear when it comes to the last book in any series I’ve enjoyed. I fear that it will not be what I’m looking for, that it will spoil my love for the other books, that it’ll be…well, wrong! Thankfully, my fear was doused just a few pages into the book when I fell into step with these great characters and lost myself once again in their story. This book had my heart feeling happy, sad, anxious, love, and maybe just a bit of desire (hello, Tristan). Can’t ask for more than that!

Beginning where Awry leaves off, Avow continues the story of Scarlet, Tristan and Gabriel as they search for the fountain of youth in hopes of breaking a curse which has affected them all. Scarlet finally has her memories back which means now she knows the secrets she’s been keeping and the dangers that lie ahead. This book takes us back to the past and shows us how we got to where we are. We watch as the relationships between both the primary and secondary characters get stronger and the stakes build to their highest level ever. I can’t say enough about these characters. Scarlet is fierce. She’s the perfect hero for this book (and this series). A girl who’s not afraid to pull all the punches, make the tough decisions and sacrifice for her friends. This book continues to build our knowledge of the Archer brothers and helps us further understand their personalities. Gabriel’s life without love and his brief moments of reprieve can break your heart. But it’s Tristan who holds my attention. This book cements Tristan’s spot in the “swoonworthiest (yes, it’s a word) book boys of all time” list. Seriously, a boy who’s not only gorgeous but willing to do whatever it takes to save the love of his life including suffering through pain and tirelessly looking for a ways to end his own life to spare hers….sigh!! Oh…and the tattoo….gah!!!

Anyway, I digress. The main point here is that this was a great ending to a fabulous series. There was adventure, twists and turns, romance and all the emotions I could possibly handle. I can sum up my feelings by sharing a tweet I sent to Chelsea when finished reading: “I’ve finished it…thought you should know that my heart beat with anticipation, worry, elation and despair. Thank you!” It is a good thing!
