Title: Meant for Her
Author: Raine Thomas
Published: October 2013
Photographer Sierra Stratton views the world through a lens all her own. She has an uncanny sense about people, something that often causes her trouble. When she meets the sexy and brooding Evan Dorsey, her intuition tells her he’s suffering, and she wants to be the one to help him.
Evan isn’t open to help from anyone, however. His focus is on his Major League career and making himself as marketable as possible for his upcoming free agency. He plans to ride out the season in Atlanta and then sign with another team, away from the painful memories that haunt him.
Someone’s eager to send him on his way, too. Between anonymous threats and equipment sabotage, it’s clear he’s earned himself an enemy along the way. To him, it’s one more sign that he’s right to move on.
But Sierra threatens his conviction. Her contagious smile proves hard to resist, as does her kiss. She tempts him in ways he never anticipated, making him question his plans for the first time. If he’s not careful, she might just convince him that he’s meant for her.

My review: If you read and enjoyed For Everly, you will definitely enjoy this book as well. Although this is a follow-up book with many of the same characters, it can definitely stand alone. It’s a book with some romance, some mystery and some wonderful characters who will draw you in from the very beginning.
The first time Sierra meets Evan she knows instinctively that he’s sad and broken. She also knows that she wants to help him get through the darkness he’s facing. So, when fate brings him to her city to play baseball for the local team, Sierra finally gets her chance. The story then follows the ups and downs each of them faces as they try to move forward. These two characters complement each other very well. Where one was strong, the other had a weakness, where one was sure, the other was confused, where one had roots, the other didn’t plan to stick around. But this isn’t a case of opposites attracting, it’s a case of patiently waiting for the right time…and maybe pushing just a little bit when necessary.
I anticipated loving these characters because, to be honest, I’ve enjoyed every character that Raine Thomas has ever written. No matter which of her series I read, I’m guaranteed to have characters with depth, strong emotions, and who just “feel real”. And, of course, I was not disappointed. Sierra is a strong, loyal character. She has a sixth sense about people and can read them fairly easily. She’s caring and intelligent and I’d definitely want her as a friend. Evan, the sexy, strong, Australian has just faced his mother’s death and is, therefore, more insecure about feelings and relationships. In general, he’s looking to keep to himself. The push and pull of the story (and the fact that it’s written in alternating POV’s) had me both loving him and feeling frustrated by him at the same time. Of course, my love for him had the upper hand at the end. Oh, and I can’t forget to mention their chemistry… strong in the beginning and absolutely explodes as we get farther into the book.
This was a great read. The story captured my imagination, the characters moved right into my heart and, as always, the writing style was creative, smooth and wonderful…can’t get better than that!
