What did you read this weekend?

We’re always looking for that next great read and we’d love to know what books ya’ll read over the weekend!

Here’s what’s on our night stands (and keeping us up way past our bedtimes) at the Book Hookup!

Clockwork Prince - CoverAna:  I’m reading Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare.  For those of you who read and enjoyed Clockwork Angel (like I did), this story begins where the other left off.  All of our favorite characters, Will, Jem and Tessa, are now faced with the possibility that Charlotte may be replaced as head of the institute and it’s up to them to ensure that doesn’t happen.  Of course, this means another adventure into the underworld of London , more mysteries to solve and a bad guy to deal with.  I’m really enjoying it so far and must admit that I fell right back in love with Will and Jem almost immediately!  I’d forgotten how satisfying a heart-wrenching love triangle can be! 😉

Jag: So after my VERY young adult read from last week I REALLY REALLY needed to um turn up the heat ifyaknowwhatImeanandIthinkyado  I actually stumbled across this book trolling amazon and thought I’d give it a go. In Halfway to the Grave (Night Huntress) by Jeaniene Frost, half-vampire Catherine Crawfield is going after the undead with a vengeance, hoping that one of these deadbeats is her father—the one responsible for ruining her mother’s life. Then she’s captured by Bones, a vampire bounty hunter, and is forced into an unholy partnership. GAH!  This book owns me this week…it’s got a fast paced storyline, a love/hate relationship, sexual tension like crazy and UNF!  Need I say more? Ya didn’t think so RAWR!

Celeste: I have been reading Birthmarked by Caragh O’Brien. Two words: dystopian crack. Oh yes, my dystopian loving friends, this book is for you. Gaia Stone lives on the outside of the Enclave and is being trained to be a midwife by her mother. They must turn over the first 3 babies they deliver every month to the inner walls of the Enclave.  Gaia’s parents get arrested, which in turn forces Gaia to question everything as she realizes the Enclave she serves does not have the best intentions. So good!! I’m going to be up late finishing this 🙂

So what did you read? We’d love to know!

It’s winter, which means I’m on a reading rampage. I have so many on my list I have a hard time picking what’s next! I finished Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire – OMG….love love Travis Maddox – so sexy. I also finished Vex by Addison Moore. I’m not quite sure how I feel about book 5 yet. I mean, the characters are good, but the story seems to have bottomed out – I’m getting bored with it. If I don’t get some sexy Gage time I may toss in the towel:-(

So last night I was going through my Kindle list and started reading Blood like Poison Book 1. Yeah….I’m intrigued and borderline obsessed with Bo. Someone please tell me all this tension is going somewhere!

I felt the same way about Vex, I need it to finish up and for Skyla to have sexy time with anyone! lol.

Blood Like Poison sounds really good too, I just haven’t gotten to it yet. My tbr list is out of control (prob a good thing though). Let us know how you like it once you’re done!

  2. I read Destined by Jessie Harrell over the weekend. Very disappointing… But, I also read some of Wanderlove by Kristen Hubbard and it’s just great! If you haven’t checked it out, definitely do!

    • Celeste

ooh, I will check out Wanderlove, a little different than what I normally read but sometimes I need a change and that might be a great choice. Thanks for the rec!

I finished the Warriors of Ankh series this weekend and started a new Nora Roberts book after that. Love, love to read!

I have also heard from someone who grabbed the freebie Warriors of Ankh that she loved it too! Sounds like a freebie gem, love those. I need to move that up my tbr list!

Yikes! Looking at all these great recs I’m more convinced than ever that I need a job that requires me to read full time! Thanks for sharing…I’ll be adding these to my list!

This weekend I finished the Vampire Academy series for the second time. Still great and I believe there will be a third time down the road. I love Dimitri and Rose.

    • Ana

Yes Heidi, me too…heart breaking…and the worst part is that it’s breaking for everyone…Will, Jem, Tessa…..ugh…I’m loving it!!

This week is gonna be crazy. We’re selling our house and the photographer is coming in a week. We have so much stuff to do before he gets here, I will hardly have time to read anything. So I should stay away from good recs. LOL
