We’re always looking for that next great read and we’d love to know what books ya’ll read over the weekend! Here’s what’s on our night stands (and keeping us up way past our bedtimes) at the Book Hookup:
Ana: I started reading Pandemonium by Lauren Oliver. I really enjoyed Delirium, the first book in this series, so I was definitely looking forward to this story. And, so far, I haven’t been disappointed! Ms. Oliver has chosen to write this book in alternating timelines – we find out what happened after the end of book one and we also see what’s happening to Lena today…each chapter is a different time in the story! Not everyone will like this but I think it’s a really great technique! I’m loving Lena all over again and meeting some new characters that are great as well. I feel like I should be reading slower, however, since book three is not coming out until next year!
Celeste: I read an author submission: Lady of the Shadows by Belinda M. Weikel. For years Althea lived among humans even though she was half fey and half demon. She did this because it was easier to hide from the Hunters mixed among the humans than in the immortal realm. Except now the Hunters seem to have found her and she needs to fight back. I really enjoyed this! Besides some typos the story was well spelled out so well and I loved how it all played out…can’t wait for the next one. Stay tuned for my full review. p.s. this one was a little more *ahem* adult
I also just started Goddess Test by Aimee Carter and I’m hooked! I had recently read another book that incorporated mythology and this one is just done so much better!! Goddess Test is about Kate Winters and Henry, and the story of Persephone and Hades. I’m a little over a quarter of the way through as I write this post but I am loving it already.
Jag – This week I started reading an author submission, Eulogy’s Secret by Grace Elliot. I’m about 70% in and really enjoying it. It’s a historical-period fiction set in England. I am huge fan of historical novels, I’ve always loved immersing myself in these past worlds. Eulogy’s Secret is about a young girl from the country who ventures to London after her guardian dies. Shortly after she arrives, she is mugged and gets rescued by the dashing Jack Huntley. I’m sensing there maybe some bodice ripping coming up soon I’m looking forward to finishing this and sharing my thoughts.
So what did you read? We’d love to know
