What Did You Read This Weekend?

Did you get a chance to read this Easter weekend?
We managed to squeeze in a few pages over here at The Book Hookup.
Here’s what is on our nightstands, how about yours?

Celeste: I read Dark Kiss (The Nightwatchers #1) by Michelle Rowen which will be published May 22. First of all: Look. At. That. Cover. RAWR! Angels, demons, gorgeous men, and a fight to save mankind. After Sam kisses her long time unattainable crush her life is changed forever…and then she meets Bishop. This book was written in a lovely and dark way, then topped off with a fabulous amount of UST that was physically draining. Stay tuned for my review later this month!

Ana:   I read Defy (Firstborn #1) by Raine Thomas.  This book is filled with adventure, great characterDefy - Covers (some new and some that I enjoyed in the Daughters of Saraqael Trilogy…see my reviews here and here), and surprises.  The “bad guys” are scarier, the Estilorian plane is more intriguing, and the characters are more fun to get to know.  Plus…there’s just a bit of romance!  This book won’t be released until April 30 and I’ll share my review with you then.  In the meantime, I suggest you go read the first three books to get ready for this release!

Jag: This past week I’ve been reading The Mind Readers by Lori Brighton.  It’s about a young girl, Cameron, abandoned by her mother, orphaned by her father and living with her over bearing and protective grandmother.  Cameron isn’t like other girls, she can read minds.  One day a new boy appears at school, he’s gorgeous and intriguing and…he’s just like Cameron.  I’m almost finished this book and despite it’s really strong start it slowed considerably.  I think it lost me a bit when it moved from the high school setting to a new one, I really love the angst of high school lol.
