We hope you had a great weekend and were able to get some reading in. Here’s what books we have on our nightstands right now:
Celeste: I’m reading Beautifully Broken (Spellbound #1) by Sherry Soule. Shiloh lives in Whispering Pines, a community that has dealt with way too many disappearances. Shiloh can see wraiths and demons, both which keep trying to tell her something she can’t understand yet, and also doesn’t want to understand because it seems like some want to kill her. She still tries to be normal and takes on a summer job at the supposedly haunted Ravenhurst Manor where ridiculously smoking hot Trent has moved in with his father. Things are heating up on all fronts and I can’t wait to finish. Make sure you stop back for the review and blog tour for book 2 in the series, Midnight Mayhem, on July 24.
Ana: I’m reading Billow by Emma Raveling. This is the second book in the Ondine Quartet series. I enjoyed the first book, Whirl, (you can see the review here) and have been transported back to Kendra’s world with all its mysteries and magic once again. As prophesied, Kendra must not only get involved in this war between the Elementals and the Aquidae but she must also be the one to bring it to an end! And, she must do this, while protecting her family and friends. As I expected, the adventure began right away in this book and has not let up…humans are disappearing and characters thought gone are reappearing. I can’t wait to see what will happen next!!
Christina: I’m reading Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry. This story is told in alternating point of views between Echo Emerson- once upon a time jock-dating popular girl to now social pariah with “freaky” scars on her arms- and Noah Hutchins- leather jacket wearing, stoner bad boy with a violent history who may also have a softer side. I haven’t gotten very far, but I was pulled in from the beginning. Echo doesn’t really remember the night that sent her social life into a tailspin and Noah has been shuffled from one foster home to the next ever since his parents were killed. There’s a ton of mystery surrounding both of their lives, but something tells me that when everything comes to light, my heart might hurt a little. At this point, these two definitely don’t give each other (nor me for that matter) the warm and fuzzies, but I’m eager to see when and where they’ll find a common ground and possibly a budding relationship.
Jag: At about 12:30am last night, I realized I wasn’t going to be sleeping anytime soon. So I pulled out my kindle and looked for something to read. I was between books so I could’ve really picked anything but I was drawn to The Immortal Rules by Julie Kagawa. I’ve been reading a lot of fantasty lately and thought a little vampire fic might be fun. GAH! I read until 2am (reaches for coffee) I was sucked in (haha pun intended) quickly and had to force myself to put it down. In a world where vampire or masters rule the world and people are no better than cattle, Allie refuses to give in and become a ‘registered’ human (or food source) for the vampires. Instead she chooses the life of an ‘unregistered’ filled with danger and the constant threat of starvation. GAH! I’m stopping there. So far, I am enthralled and intrigued. Looking forward to reading today
How about you? What’s on your nightstand? We want to know!
