From the Publisher:“History is on repeat, and things didn’t go so well the last time. “

Alexandria isn’t sure she’s going to make it to her eighteenth birthday–to her Awakening. A long-forgotten, fanatical order is out to kill her, and if the Council ever discovers what she did in the Catskills, she’s a goner… and so is Aiden.

If that’s not freaky enough, whenever Alex and Seth spend time “training”–which really is just Seth’s code word for some up-close and personal one-on-one time–she ends up with another mark of the Apollyon, which brings her one step closer to Awakening ahead of schedule. Awesome.

But as her birthday draws near, her entire world shatters with a startling revelation and she’s caught between love and Fate. One will do anything to protect her. One has been lying to her since the beginning. Once the gods have revealed themselves, unleashing their wrath, lives will be irrevocably changed… and destroyed.

Those left standing will discover if love is truly greater than Fate…

Celeste’s review: *clutches heart* Oh. My. Gods. I am flailing this book was so good! There’s a reason I’m addicted to this series and it’s because JLA is pure genius. The story reads effortlessly, yet it’s complex and full of swoon. If you love mythology and swooning this is for you.  I loved, I mean loved this book and I’m saying that with huge flashing, sparkling, neon words. It’s so very, very good, yet so very, very stressful in the best possible way. This book picked up right where Pure left off: Alex is in danger until she awakens as an apollyon, and in the mean time she has to be protected around the clock.

First things first: I love, love, LOVE the chemistry between Alex and Aiden. Aiden is just so unbelieveably unffff. While he is so confident, he is definitely not a bad boy. Don’t let the fear of a goody goody scare you. He is so cool under pressure, that’s right, he mans up whenever he needs to. From fighting to um, other stuff. While she still has a connection to Seth (which is pretty cool!) she knows where her heart belongs. I will not say any more about Alexandria’s relationships but have I mentioned that I LOVED THIS BOOK?

The story is complex and really ramps up the mythology factor, which I loved.  Even though it’s bad, I still I loved how Alex was getting more runes. At first it seemed like her awakening was going to be text book….but that would be too easy! Alex was hesitant and it seems she has a good reason to be. There are layers to the story and plenty of betrayals; I wasn’t sure who was going to be the next double crosser. I also was totally shocked at some characters, some were bad and some were holy cow! JLA does not disappoint with twists and turns in a plot that is written so clearly. She does it beautifully and where I least expect it. There were also awesome moments that made me LOL. Like the scrabble. tee hee.

I had a hard time putting this book down, and you won’t either. I was clutching my heart at the end! I cannot wait for the next one, I have no idea what will happen and it’s going to be so hard to wait. Until then, there is the short story, Elixir, which I am about to start…now! I’ve also included a photo of JLA and me when I met her at a signing which you can find below, right after Ana’s review of Deity. I may look a little sleepy in the photo but I was just starstruck. She was pure awesome.

Ana’s review:  Oh my…these books just get better and better!  With the twists and turn never giving me a moment’s rest, the characters demanding I hold out hope even in dark times and the chemistry between Aiden and Alex exploding before my eyes, I couldn’t put this book down!

The characters in these books continue to be strong.  With her Awakening on the horizon, Alex has a lot on her plate.  Her connection to Seth is getting stronger and all kinds of changes are happening, including new runes and feelings that confuse our heroine.  Somehow she’s able to keep her witty inner monologue even in stressful situations and that makes her all that much more real.  Seth’s personality is evolving, his connection to Alex is growing, and he may not be exactly who we imagined him to be.  And the Gods are finally stepping in and stepping up…I love that we get more mythology in this story!  We get to know some of the secondary characters better in this book as well and our impressions of a few may even change.  My favorite secondary character has to be Aiden’s brother, Deacon, and his storyline is great!

But, of course, I couldn’t write a review about Deity without gushing over Aiden.  I really liked him  in the first two books.  I thought he was smart, kind and sexy.  But this book took my love for him over the top.  We see so much more of his emotions in this book, including his hopes, dreams and vulnerabilities.  He made my heart flutter and thud over and over (and I may have written several tweets to that effect during reading).  You all know that I love love…and the forbidden love between Alex and Aiden makes me sigh with joy!

If you haven’t started this series…what are you waiting for?  Go get it now!  I can’t wait for the next book.  I’m so looking forward to finding out what will happen next and to letting Aiden sweep me off my feet again!!

p.s. I’m super jealous of Celeste…and I think both she and JLA look gorgeous in this picture!
