From the Publisher: Seventeen-year-old Raine Cooper has enough on her plate dealing with her father’s disappearance, her mother’s erratic behavior and the possibility of her boyfriend relocating. The last thing she needs is Torin St. James—a mysterious new neighbor with a wicked smile and uncanny way of reading her.
Raine is drawn to Torin’s dark sexiness against her better judgment, until he saves her life with weird marks and she realizes he is different. But by healing her, Torin changes something inside Raine. Now she can’t stop thinking about him. Half the time, she’s not sure whether to fall into his arms or run.
Scared, she sets out to find out what Torin is. But the closer she gets to the truth the more she uncovers something sinister about Torin. What Torin is goes back to an ancient mythology and Raine is somehow part of it. Not only are she and her friends in danger, she must choose a side, but the wrong choice will cost Raine her life.

but that did not influence the review**
First Thoughts: Woa! That ending. Didn’t see that coming at all!
Plot, Setting, Pacing and Style: The plot, oh I loved it. I love stories with runes incorporated, but this one topped it off with some Norse mythology so it was extra fantastic.
Raine tries to stay away from her new neighbor, Torin St. James, but she just can’t do it. Her best friend of forever, Eirik, has finally admitted he has feelings for her, and her dream of dating him comes true….except that he doesn’t make her heart flutter the way that Torin does. Torin isn’t the only new person in town, and some of the others really don’t seem to like Raine. At all. She is disliked enough to get herself almost killed, but luckily Torin stepped in and saved Raine’s life. After that she sees “runes” and can’t get Torin out of her head. She is on a mission to find out Torin’s secrets, stay alive, and at the same time try to be normal.
The setting wasn’t anything that stood out either way, but I have a feeling in the next book I might get a glimpse of Hel and it could be scary!
The pacing had me on the edge of my seat! It was a delicious, slow torture of finding out information one tidbit at a time. The writing style was so easy to read and allowed me to just site back and enjoy the show.
The MCs: Raine, Torin, Eirik, and Cora.
Loved Raine. She was innocent and sweet and in love with her best friend. While she missed her dad, she was brave enough to move ahead, taking one day at a time. I respected her so much.
Torin St. James is one sexy mofo. Bad, YES. But yet has a soft spot for Raine. His Pacific-blue eyes and black hair that I would love to run my hands through? UM, yes and please.
Eirik and Cora were great supporting characters. I loved Eirik, but I didn’t LOVE him (if you know what I mean). I think I am liking the direction he might be going in! Cora was a typical BFF, but I didn’t loathe her, so that actually says a lot.
Romance /Chemistry: Oh, there is some serious chemistry going on. This was a slow burn my friends…and I freaking LOVED it! I kept thinking, “kiss her, kiss her, kiss her.” The body language was so hot, with some serious vibes. I can’t wait to see what happens, but apparently I am going to have to enjoy it all over again. What? is that cryptic? Well, you will just have to read it for yourself since I hate to spoil.
Title/Cover: The title is pretty awesome. Simple and to the point. The cover is pretty and caught my attention, but doesn’t take my breath away, and I never found myself oogling it.
Twists and Turns: Um, YES. Big ones. Huge.
Ending: I was somehow blind sighted by the reunion so I didn’t see that “situation” from a mile away. Yes, this is a massive cliffhanger!
Gripes/suggestions: No major ones, but if I read one more YA book with a tree and balcony out the girl’s bedroom I might get a little worked up. I don’t recall any of my friends having trees and balconies when I was in high school. Also, why was Raine’s missing dad not a known fact? Didn’t people talk more. It was odd, but I accepted it and read through it. I am totally nitpicking here folks…I loved this book!!
Final Thoughts/Rec It? A million times yes.
