From the Publisher: When I won the annual Eagle Elite College Scholarship lottery, I was thrilled. After all, my grandma had just died and I wanted to take care of my aging grandpa — he couldn’t be a farmer in Wyoming forever. And graduating from Eagle Elite meant opportunity.
But I wasn’t counting on meeting Nixon.
Nor was I counting on the rules of the Elect.
1. Do not touch The Elect. 2. Do not look at The Elect.
3. Do not speak to The Elect.
And worst of all? Don’t discover the secret they hide, because in the end, you may just realize… it’s about you.
**I received a copy from the publisher,
but that did not influence the review**
First Thoughts: My rating = 100 flashing stars that glow in rainbow colors What. In. The. Heck. Was. That? Oh, it was epic awesomeness!! I was up into the wee hours reading this and then once I was done couldn’t sleep!! This was SO intense, awesome, refreshing…I could keep going and going… Please oh please, I need the next book SOON!!
Plot, Pacing and Style: I don’t even know where to start. Tracey, or Trace, was lucky enough to win a slot in the premiere college: Eagle Elite. She arrived, and within minutes was told to bow down to a select few on the campus. Whaaaa? Yep, I was what the heck?? and so was Trace. Of course Trace only follows the rules as little as she can to get by with, but soon finds herself caught up in the storm that is Nixon, head of the Elect. What happens next? You’ll have to read to find out! You all know I’m a spoiler-phobe and I don’t want to give any more details away. This was so fast paced, but in an outstanding way. I was never confused or bored, more like sucked in on so many levels. There were also some serious LOL moments. Like the “bucket list”. I loved it!! I can’t get over Ms. Van Dyken’s talent for writing.
The MCs: Again, I don’t even know where to start with the god that is Nixon. His presence was intimidating, yet irresistibly delicious. Scary. And then scary calm when the sh*t hit the fan. Ultimately he is all kinds of man. All kinds….and I want to know more. I feel like we only got to see a small part of him, there’s still so much more to Nixon, so many layers. Trace, on the other hand, I felt like I got to know her a bit better as this was written in her POV. I think I loved seeing how she fit into her new role and was able to adapt. Well, as well as expected. She had so much thrown at her, yet was so resilient. Loved her!
Romance /Chemistry: It was undeniable and hello alpha male to the max!! Holy hot kisses and touches and rules and GAH!! For the love of god please let there be some down time in the next book so we can get a massive kissy scene in. Just trust me, this chemistry is off the charts.
There had better not be a love triangle or Imma freak out!! Please, Ms. Van Dyken, let’s just give Chase his own book. PLEASE!!! I love Chase and can’t deal with disliking him. I hate love triangles so I’m a bit nervous.
“I would have kissed you harder. I would have fought for you more. I don’t know. I would have stolen you away, taken your virtue, made myself so permanently etched on your person that every time you took a breath it was my scent that was permeating the air.”
This is what I’m talking about, people!!! *shakes fists in the air*
Title/Cover: The title is simple and perfect, yet gives away nothing. Just how I like it! The cover is sexy, romantic, and shows how in charge Nixon is, and yah, mama likey a lot.
Twists and Turns: Holy crap with the hammer and what happened after with Grandpa!!
Ending: Oh man oh man oh man, do we even have time for a breather?? Intense, scary, awesome. It is not a cliffhanger, but we know bad stuff is a coming!
Gripes/suggestions: I have none. Zero. Nada. For real!
Final Thoughts/Rec It? YES YES YES!! I can’t even begin to rec this enough. Romance, action, bad boys, GUNS, tattoos. Yep, all in there!! I need book 2, Elect, ASAP! Ms. Van Dyken says there might be a third book as well. For the love all of bucket lists, please make that happen!!
