From the Publisher: Decades after being banished from Heaven for saving a life he shouldn’t have, Lash is given a chance to redeem himself. His mission: protect Naomi Duran, a young woman who has lost her faith. The assignment proves to be anything but simple when his superiors, the Archangels, withhold key information about Naomi and refuse to restore Lash’s powers. When an unexpected source reveals centuries-old secrets, his trust is shaken to the core, and he begins to doubt those whom he had once considered to be his greatest allies.

Determined to avoid anything that would risk his chances of returning to Heaven, Lash struggles with the greatest obstacle of all—his growing feelings for Naomi. But when her life is threatened by an unknown source, Lash questions the wisdom of the Archangels and his ability to keep her safe.

Soon, Lash will have to choose where to place his faith—in the home he has fought so hard to regain or in the forbidden love he can’t bear to lose.

**I received a copy of this book from the publisher,
but that did not influence the review**

First Thoughts: 3 stars I love angel stories and the cover to this one was definitely eye catching. The story was layered, and maybe that level of complication is the factor that kept this story just shy of evoking a more emotional response for me.

Plot, Setting, Pacing and Style: The angel Lash made a judgement call years ago which cost him Heaven. He still thinks he made the right choice and is just waiting to be called back home. He is finally given the assignment to protect Naomi, but is not told why. As he protects her, he learns more and more…and starts to fall in love.

The pacing was good, but I could have used a little more detail. It still kept me turning the pages as I go to know

This story was written in 3rd person, and went back and forth between Naomi and Lash. It was OK, but I would have really loved to be in their heads and gotten to know them better.

The MCs: Lash and Naomi are both beautiful, lonely, and so broken. However, when they meet they seem to heal each other and get relief from the sadness and loneliness. I could tell they really were meant to be together.

My favorite character was actually Welita, Naomi’s grandmother. I felt as if I could totally imagine her house and all the delicious food aromas coming from it. Her home sounded divine to me.

Romance /Chemistry: I saw the words but never really got the memo. I could tell Lash and Naomi were drawn to each other but there just weren’t sparks flying off the page. This is totally personal preference, so maybe the romance would work for someone else.

Title/Cover: Love. The title is clear and simple, and definitely intriguing. The cover is stunning, and I would be lying if I told you it wasn’t the reason I first picked up this book. Absolutely gorgeous.

Twists and Turns: Oh, the double crossings and testing of faith. I love double crossings.

Ending: Full of action, and I wasn’t sure who to trust. Honestly I was a little confused at times since it was chock full of information and flashbacks. However, it wrapped up nicely and I got my answers.

Gripes/suggestions: I can’t quite put my finger on it…the story was beautifully edited yet I needed something more. Maybe, and this is just a maybe…if it were written from 1st person POV it would have struck a chord with me. I just didn’t connect with the characters.

Final Thoughts/Rec It? If you love angels, it’s a great quick read to add to you TBR. If you are looking to be swept off your feet and fall in love this book may not be for you.
