Series: Out Of Line
Publisher: self published
Published: September 6, 2013
From the Publisher: Desperate to break free…
I’ve spent my entire life under my father’s thumb, but now I’m finally free to make my own choices. When my roommate dragged me to my first college party, I met Finn Coram and my life turned inside out. He knows how to break the rules and is everything I never knew I wanted. A Marine by day and surfer by night, he pushes me away even as our attraction brings us closer. Now I am finally free to do whatever I want. I know what I want. I choose Finn.
Trying to play by the rules…
I always follow orders. My job, my life, depends on it. I thought this job would be easy, all the rules were made crystal clear, but when I met Carrie Wallington, everything got muddy. She’s a rule I know I shouldn’t break, but damn if I don’t inch closer to the breaking point each time I see her. I’m ready to step out of line. And even worse? I’m living a lie. They say the truth will set you free, but in my case…
The truth will cost me everything.
**I received a copy of this book for the blog tour,
but that did not influence the review**
Character Journal (Finn):
I did something really stupid. Of course, that seems to be the course when I’m around her. I open my big fat mouth and say something I shouldn’t. Or, even worse, I kiss her.
Because that’s what I did.
It was fucking amazing, and now all I can think about is how right it felt. This isn’t exactly going to help me with the whole off limits thing…but it’s too late for reservations now. What’s done is done.
Now I just have to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
I’m watching her now, flirting and smiling with a bunch of college boys at a frat party.
I wish I didn’t have to watch her…but I have to.
No matter how much it hurts.

First Thoughts: 4.5 stars LET THE FLAILING BEGIN! Oh, I loved this story and all the feels it gave me. I might be in love…
Plot, Pacing and Style: Here is the quick and dirty without spoiling: good girl goes to college and falls for bad boy she isn’t supposed to, and their chemistry is undeniable. You’ve read this storyline? Maybe, but when it’s done right it never, ever, ever gets old. Plus there’s a few other things in this gem that kept the journey of Carrie and Finn totally interesting. Ms. McLaughlin has a way with words that made my heart flutter and stomach do flips. I love alternating POVs, and this one was as good as I had hoped. I’d be lying if I said it was pretty awesome be in Finn’s head and hear his not so G-rated thoughts.
The MCs: Carrie was a straight A student who did everything to please her parents. Even though she started college away from her parents, her instinct was to do the right thing. But that was before she met Finn. All her original plans went right out the window. I wish towards the end she was a little more forgiving and not so bitchy, but I knew it was an act so I forgave her.
Now let’s talk about Finn…..a very hot surfer with tattoos who rides a motorcycle and was in the marines!!! Need I say more?!? Well I’m still going to. He has some secrets, and I would love to know what they are. Maybe in the next book we’ll find out more. He is crazy about Carrie and wants to do the right thing by her, even if it means giving her up. I felt sad that he sold himself short and didn’t think he was good enough for her. To me, he was a man anyone would want. He may have had some tattoos and a motorcycle, but he also had discipline from the marines as well as his security job.
Romance /Chemistry: RAWR. 10 cold showers. I wished there had been more of a slow burn, but what the heck, when it works it works I guess!
Title/Cover: Perfect and perfect. The title was spot on. I still want to know what happens when the truth is revealed to even more people!!! The cover is perfect, sweet and romantic.
Twists and Turns: The story was predictable yet delicious so when Carrie found out what Finn was keeping from her and the hurt began I was not surprised. I was also not surprised that they could not stay away from each other. But, whoa, did not see that coming at the end. What was it? Well I can’t tell you! But I need to know
Ending: What? you left me with that???? I need the next book now please.
Gripes/suggestions: I am glutton for punishment but I love a slower burn. I loved the immediate chemstry between Finn and Carrie, but when there is a slow burn of the sexy times it makes me crazy. In a good way. I love it. They admitted they liked each other and pretty much feasted on one another. Don’t get me wrong, it was delicious, but I wish there had been a bigger build up.
Final Thoughts/Rec It? YES. A I sure? Positive as a proton yes. (teehee).
