Summary from Goodreads: Calling Anna and Bennett’s romance long distance is an understatement: she’s from 1995 Chicago and he’s a time traveler from 2012 San Francisco. The two of them never should have met, but they did. They fell in love, even though they knew they shouldn’t. And they found a way to stay together, against all odds.

It’s not a perfect arrangement, though, with Bennett unable to stay in the past for more than brief visits, skipping out on big chunks of his present in order to be with Anna in hers. They each are confident that they’ll find a way to make things work…until Bennett witnesses a single event he never should have seen (and certainly never expected to). Will the decisions he makes from that point on cement a future he doesn’t want?

Told from Bennett’s point of view, Time After Time will satisfy readers looking for a fresh, exciting, and beautifully-written love story, both those who are eager to find out what’s next for Time Between Us’s Anna and Bennett and those discovering their story for the first time.

Average Goodreads Rating (as of 09/27/2013): 4.25

  • Christina thought this title was really good. She really likes Bennett, even when he’s being stupidly unselfish. It goes on her 2nd shelf.

**Special Note:** An e-ARC of this title was provided by the publishers via Net Galley in exchange for an honest review. However, that did not influence this review an any way. All thoughts, quotes, and opinions will be of this galley and not from the published version.

Initial Thoughts and Rating: 4 stars! This was just as cute as the first (Which I also really liked, find my review for it HERE.), though it had a little more angst. I also enjoyed getting to know Bennett better, or rather, his internal thoughts better seeing as I felt like I knew him after the first book.

The Lowdown: The lovely Anna and Bennett that are separated by sixteen years in time and thousands of miles that we fell in love with in the first novel are back for a second book, but this time, we get to see everything through Bennett’s eyes. Despite the many complicated obstacles that stand in their way, they’re determined to make this relationship work. This book is more about finessing those details; especially because now Bennett has to balance his life in the present with the one he wants to have with the girl he loves in the past. To make the situation even more challenging, Bennett’s having to keep secrets from his parents because of events that happened in the first book and they’ve put a permanent halt on his time-travelling… or so they believe.

Love is tricky business all on its own. However, it can get downright messy when there’s a boy that can see events in the future and thinks he has the power to right all the wrongs and give deserving people second chances.

My Thoughts: I definitely enjoyed getting to see Bennett’s perspective on everything- from his traveling, to his home life and family, to exactly how he felt about Anna. I’d say that Ms. Stone has a very firm handle on her characterizations  because his family and friends came to life just as much as Anna’s did in the first book.

I appreciated the angstier aspects to this side of the relationship and that it wasn’t as loving this go around; it made their connection that much better and more realistic to me. Though it was frustrating at times, I liked that Bennett had his struggles and that we got to see them. I certainly felt like I could relate to his anger during the middle of the book; though, I will say that it made me question why Anna was holding on. She’s a stronger person than me because I would’ve kicked his behind back to 2012 with his his little tirade in the middle of the street. I mean, I get it, I do, but I still wanted her to stay mad at him for a little longer. *points at self* I’m a relationship grudge-holder. *shrugs*

All that said, I thought it was a wonderfully rounded story and even though I’m sad that it’s over, the ending was a perfect conclusion to their tale. It was the pretty wrapping paper with a tidy-enough bow that I can be happy to where they’ll go in the future and be satisfied with it.

Swoons: Of course, it’s time-traveling Bennett and sweet Anna and maybe even an unexpected overnight trip to Paris. Siiiiiiiiigh.

♥ Swoony Teaser:

“Look,” I say. “All I want is a normal relationship with you, and when I’m here, it feels like I have it. But when I’m there… I just miss you. All the time.”

Verdict: After you finish Time Between Us, you should definitely read this one, too. Oh the places you will go and the people you meet… *swoons* With Bennett, it’s only a handhold and a blink away.

♥ A very special thanks to Disney-Hyperion and NetGalley  for providing me with an early copy of this title for review.

Full of giggles, flails, snark and Southern endearments. Avid Reader. Lover of swoony boys, kickass heroines, yummy kissing scenes, and pretty prose.

I like to draw hearts in the sky (eternal optimist) and wish on stars (forever dreamer). Documentaries, sweet tea, sleep, and brightly colored knee-socks are a few of my favorite things. ♥
