Series: The BS Series
Published: August 28th, 2013 – Self Published
Story Synopsis: New school. New friendships. New life. Not so much.
Alexandra is pissed about her parents abandoning her. She’s beyond pissed that her friends did the same. She’s enraged because things are unclear about her brother’s death now. So her first stop is at Jesse’s house to demand answers. She wants to know why her brother was friends with the criminal crowd before he died and she knows he holds the answers. But when she sees him, she doesn’t get the answers she expected. Instead, she finds out that their chemistry never faded and soon heats up again!
Some habits die hard. Soon Jesse and Alex are back to their ways of sneaking around. He’s a near-celebrity at school and she doesn’t want to deal with the backlash of being his girlfriend. Alex is tired of being hurt so she’s learned the lesson not to confide and lean on others. However, she can’t seem to help herself when it comes to Jesse Hunt. The big question isn’t if she will survive if their relationship goes public, it’s if she will survive when the real truths about her family and brother come out? Or when she learns that Jesse knows more than what he’s told her?
We put Broken and Screwed 2 on our top shelf!
Let’s First Discuss The Sheer Awesomeness of Tijan’s Writing..
Amy: 5 Stars! Tijan’s writing is simply incredible. And addictive. And entirely consuming.. Yes, you’re definitely in for emotional sort of whiplash when you pick up one of her books, but her stories are some of the best I’ve read in a while.
Celeste: 5 stars. My heart is bursting. I’m not sure which emotions are even bubbling over the top: love, happiness, hurt, sadness, or lust. I seriously could not put this book down. The writing style and voice Tijan uses is pure perfection. The emotional depths she takes the reader to is amazing. Pure genius.
The Continuation of Jesse and Alex’s Romance ..
Amy: I nearly died from the killer cliffhanger in book 1, and I wanted to despise Jesse in the beginning of this book, and I did for about the first 3 sentences but that quickly went flying out the window and I loved him again (You’ll understand when you read it for yourself!). No matter what happened between these two characters, and trust me, they’re put through the wringer a few hundred times before the end of the story, they ALWAYS make better sense together than they do apart.. Their chemistry remained uniquely explosive and actually seemed to even grow stronger than it was book 1
(GAH). Jesse and Alex’s’ characters compliment one another so well, I found it pretty much impossible to not love them both individually and as together as a couple..
Celeste: In book 2 I found that Jesse wasn’t as closed off as I had originally thought. However, I had those thoughts initially because the story was told in Alex’s POV. She didn’t know he loved her, and it took a long time for her to see that. She is so broken, and so very real. I loved her even though I was so sad for her. Jesse is actually pretty straight forward and never wavered with his feelings for Alex. That surprised me, but looking back now I see it.
The chemistry is amazing. Plain and simple. I lol’d a lot because Jesse was so open about being horny for Alex. He was not ashamed or shy about just wanting to screw. But it was more than that, and the love these two share is truly epic.
Amy: So much is explored and revealed in the continuation of Jesse and Alex’s story.. Alex just cannot catch a break, and an almost constant devastation seems to follow her around every corner. Jesse is royalty on campus, something that he is constantly running away from. He tries his best to tuck that part of his life away, and focus on the girl that has always meant everything to him. Secrets play an active role in this book and as the truth comes out, Jesse and Alex are forced to learn from and accept them.. And accept each other as well. There are so many layers to both of these characters, and in the roles of the supporting characters too.. They truly make this story the awesomeness that it is.
Celeste: B&S2 continued the journey of Alexandra working through her grief of losing her brother Ethan, as well as the abandonment by her parents. Jesse is there every step of the way because he and Alex can’t stay away from each other. They both keep secrets because they fear that the truth will destroy them. I loved watching the walls come down for both Alex and Jesse as they let each other in. It was so very moving.
Amy: I loved this book. And I loved the first book. And I’m certain I’ll adore the next one too. For me, everything came together unexpectedly perfect in the end and I was SO moved and enamored by Tijan’s writing! If you’ve yet to pick up one of her books, I highly, highly recommend that you do! You won’t be disappointed!
Celeste: It wrapped up well, and in all honestly I’m not sure if the next book continues with Jesse and Alex’s story or not. I kind of see it as being finished. One tiny thing: I do wish I had gotten one more, little stronger declaration of love. But then again, that wasn’t the style of Jesse and Alex so maybe I’m being greedy. I loved it so much, regardless.
I’d rec this book a million times over. Phenomenal!
