Title: More Than This

In one night my fairytale ended. Or it may have begun. This is my story of friendship and love, heartbreak and desire, and the strength to show weakness.
One night I met a girl. A sad and broken girl, but one more beautiful than any other. She laughed through her sadness, while I loved through her heartbreak.
*This is our story of a maybe ever after.*
He was right. It made no difference whether it was 6 months or 6 years. I couldn’t undo what had been done. I couldn’t change the future. I couldn’t even predict it. It was one night. One night when everything changed. It was so much more than just the betrayal. It was the Tragedy. The Deaths. The Murders. But it was also that feeling.
The feeling of falling.
First Thoughts: 5 Bursting Stars Epic. My heart, it’s broken and bursting at the same time. Hold me, and then maybe throw me in a cold shower too. I’m so in love with this book.
Plot, Pacing and Style: I started reading this book, and honestly, I wasn’t sucked in. But it had so many awesome reviews that I had to keep going. (By the way, I’m only talking like the very, very, very beginning…opening scene beginning). But then it got interesting, and then it got real. Oh Mikayla, how my heart broke for her. The pacing was perfect, it felt like real time, and I swear I lived it too. I couldn’t stop turning the pages. The style was dual POVs, which sometimes I am not as crazy about since I like to guess what is going on in everyone’s heads, but this time it was perfect. I think knowing what Jake was thinking made the book so perfect. There were so many other factors and emotions going on, so we didn’t really have time to be guessing what was going on in the guy’s head.
The MCs: Mikayla is so very broken, and when I say broken, I mean broken. But she does keep going, thanks to Jake who is just there for her. She has days that she seems to have moments of healing, and in those moments we got to see her spunkiness…and I loved her, adored her, and want her for a friend in real life.
Jake is a big deal (lol). No really, he is. He has a plan for life, which is college and baseball, and he never expected to fall for Mikayla. He truly fell for her heart, soul, and body, and the swoons I felt from this were just amazing. The way Jake felt touched me so deeply.
Romance /Chemistry: You guys, this chemistry was crazy. C-R-A-Z-Y. There is so much UST (unresolved sexual tension) it’s insane. I loved it. I can’t say anything else, but gah, if you love all that angsty stuff read this tonight!
Title/Cover: I like this title more than a lot! It’s more perfect than you can imagine. I love the cover too. It’s sweet and deep at the same time.
Twists and Turns: Oh yes. But you know me and how I’m a spoiler phobe so I’m zipping my lips (see the next section for a tad bit more elaboration on this).
Ending: Holy sh*t. I did not expect that and then that. And no, I can’t say what, except I was SHOCKED. SHOCKED!
Gripes/suggestions: Didn’t love the beginning, and Lucy and Cam made me cringe a little bit. I didn’t need to know what they were up to behind closed doors…but obviously there’s a story to tell since they have their own book. So…on that note don’t hold me to my current opinions. I’m reading it no matter what.
Final Thoughts/Rec It? A million, billion times YES. This book even gets a spot on my coveted favorites shelf. I will now read anything and everything Ms. McLean writes. Thank you, Ms. McLean for writing this gem, you are genius.
