Summary from Goodreads: From acclaimed author Katie McGarry comes an explosive new tale of a good girl with a reckless streak, a street-smart guy with nothing to lose, and a romance forged in the fast lane

The girl with straight As, designer clothes and the perfect life-that’s who people expect Rachel Young to be. So the private-school junior keeps secrets from her wealthy parents and overbearing brothers…and she’s just added two more to the list. One involves racing strangers down dark country roads in her Mustang GT. The other? Seventeen-year-old Isaiah Walker-a guy she has no business even talking to. But when the foster kid with the tattoos and intense gray eyes comes to her rescue, she can’t get him out of her mind.

Isaiah has secrets, too. About where he lives, and how he really feels about Rachel. The last thing he needs is to get tangled up with a rich girl who wants to slum it on the south side for kicks-no matter how angelic she might look.

But when their shared love of street racing puts both their lives in jeopardy, they have six weeks to come up with a way out. Six weeks to discover just how far they’ll go to save each other.

  • Christina thought this book was everything I wanted it to be. I’d marry Isaiah in a heartbeat. This goes on her top shelf! For more on the author, her other novels, my review of this book, AND A GIVEAWAY OPPORTUNITY…

**SPECIAL NOTE:** An eARC of this title was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review during this blog tour. However, that did not influence this review in any way. All thoughts, quotes, and opinions will be of this version and not of the published edition.

♥ Initial Thoughts and Rating: Actual rating of 4.5 stars! Isaiah is my favorite out of all of McGarry’s boys- her heroes and male secondary characters. He always has been, even in the previous two novels when he wasn’t even supposed to be the main character. I just… there’s always been something about him *cough*his body armor that protects his sensitive soul*cough* that has managed to draw me in over and over. I love him so much. The whole brooding, pierced, tatted boy that uses his outward appearance to push away people so he doesn’t have to protect his heart so fiercely but is loyal beyond measure for those that he allows to get close enough… *sigh* All of that, it works so well for him. But this story isn’t just about Isaiah, and I ended up really liking Rachel, too. Not only were the characters engaging, but the plot was gripping and made my heart stutter, flutter, and skip a few beats practically the entire way through the novel.

Crash Into You is quite the reading experience. So, strap yourself in for a quick ride through troubled youth, illegal street racing and legal drag-strips, and a heated romance that will have you guessing what’s around every bend in the road.

Rachel’s this brilliant flame blazing in the darkness. I don’t know what the hell is going on, but I’ve always been the kind of guy that likes a fire.

♥ The Lowdown: Isaiah is intense. He’s a rough-and-tough bad boy with an edge, and everyone knows it. Growing up in the system, where he was abused and often picked on by other kids because of his small stature, required him to acquire and maintain a certain appearance. In the bad part of towns, you’re either the kid that gets picked on or the one nobody wants to mess with. Isaiah has gotten good at making others believe he’s supposed to be given a wide berth, and most people do give him that space. However, what people don’t know is that once you dig beneath the veneer of tattoos, piercings, and lean muscle, he has a big heart and will loyally stand by those that have earned his trust and respect.

Completely his opposite, Rachel appears to live a life of cushioned wealth with a loving family. Yet beneath her polished facade, Rachel is crumbling. Stacked against high expectations from her parents and older brothers, she’s barely able to conceal just how weathered her soul has grown. Debilitated by frequent panic attacks, Rachel struggles to keep her secret and make her family believe that she’s fine, that they’re going to be okay, that everything is absolutely all right in the world of the Young family. But in her heart, she knows nothing will ever be fine again, not since her older sister– one that she never even met– died and she is only her replacement, and a poor substitute at that. But Rachel’s about to find out that the cracks in the family’s foundation go deeper than she ever even knew.

These two have every odd stacked against them even meeting, but a chance encounter over a shared passion of cars and speed causes their worlds to collide. Soon they find themselves swept up in a heated romance, one in which they’ll have to learn to rely on one another to make it out unharmed after a single race goes wrong.

♥ My Thoughts: Katie McGarry has pulled it off again, stunning me with a novel that shatters my heart throughout and pieces in back together with her emotional writing and fantastic characters. I honestly don’t know how she manages to provide stellar novel delivery time and time again other than the fact that she possesses pure talent… or a genius fairy in her back pocket. (We’ll stick with talent for now.) Because of a compelling story-line that kept me riveted by effortless, flowing dialogue, I don’t ever feel like I’m reading a story, but rather experiencing a journey of loss, love, and shining triumph.

From my reviews of the other novels in this series, you should know by now that when it comes to this author, you’re going to get A) a phenomenal book. B) It will contain fantastic characters who go through a great deal of believable growth by the end, and that’ll you want to hand them a medal for how far they’ve come since the beginning. I’m not just speaking about the main characters either. This author always introduces new faces and rounds out the cast with old characters that bring a true balance to her work and tie the books together seamlessly. C) You know it’ll be told in such a way that you can’t help but have your heartstrings tugged at, and by its conclusion, you’ll feel bonded to the characters because of the journey you’ve taken together. D)You’ll sigh contentedly after you’ve finished and wait for the moment that you can devour more of McGarry’s words. Crash Into You is no exception. It’s a powerful tale of two teens finding love and themselves, but it’s so much more than that, too.

One note worth mentioning– it’s a thing that I always mean to say about her novels, but fail to do so– is that I appreciate that Ms. McGarry doesn’t ever feel the need to wrap up her stories with tidy, pretty bows. Not every issue that the characters face will have a definitive conclusion, but she does give you enough closure with that sub-plot that you don’t ever feel as though that particular problem was introduced just for the sake of convenience in furthering her plot. To be perfectly honest, I like that she leaves things a little messy (Example: I’m speaking about the relationship Isaiah has with his birth mother in this novel.) because I’m not disillusioned enough to think that every outcome in real life is picture-perfect. It makes the novel as a whole feel more authentic.

♥ Swoons: It. Is. Isaiah. In case that statement isn’t enough clarification, then yes, of course there are swoons. *siiiiiigh*

♥ Swoony Teaser:

“You are bossy.”

“Protective,” I counter, and run my hand along the length of her leg. Rachel lets out a contented sigh.“I wish we could be like this forever.”

“We will be.” I break a cardinal rule and dream of the future. Rachel is a future kind of girl, and I’m going to have to work hard to give her a world worth living in. “With this certification and internship, I’ll have the best jobs. I can’t give you the world, Rachel, but I’ll give you all I got.”

♥ Rec It? Yes, absolutely. Crash Into You is probably my favorite book in the Pushing the Limits series thus far. I can’t wait to read more of McGarry’s work as she continues to wow me with her character depth and engaging plots.
