catch my 5 star review of book 1, Fallen Crest High, here
First Thoughts: 4.5 stars Everything went up a few notches in Fallen Crest Family
Plot, Pacing, and Style: I am a massive spoiler phobe, so I wasn’t sure whose story this was going to be until I opened the book. That’s right, I didn’t even read the synopsis. I love going into books blind. I was guessing it might be Logan’s story, which would make 3 Nate’s, but I was wrong. Did it matter? No, I loved it!
This continued where book 1 left off, but now I knew all the main characters so much better. I was also able to keep so many of the secondary ones straight in my head this time. Samantha and Mason are officially together, but most people don’t approve. Neither one of them cares what anyone else thinks, until some serious threats are made, threats that actually have Mason and Samantha backed into a corner…for a while. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough as the plot unfolded and became way more intense. Sam’s mother, Analise, was such a loose canon so I never knew what I was going to find on the next page.
While this is told from Sam’s POV (just like Fallen Crest High) she is closer with Mason and Logan now, so I felt lucky to see some glimpses into their thoughts, but it only made me greedy for more.
Main Characters: I think I still feel the same way and seriously love them so much. While the story is mainly about Samantha and Mason, Logan and Nate play huge roles in this installment…and I’m desperate to get to know them better. The loyalty these four have for each other is so deep, I was almost envious.
Romance/Chemistry: Ridiculously hot. Eff me. That is all. *jumps in cold shower*
Title/Cover: The title once again, is simple perfection. The cover is OK, but doesn’t reel me in and I’m not sure who is who (besides Sam).
Twists, Turns, and Secrets: The lies start to surface, as well as everyone’s loyalties and I loved every little nugget that came out.
Ending: I can breather a little easier now, but I’m telling you this: it’s not over and I don’t trust Analise one single bit. As soon as I finish typing this review I’m starting book 3. I. Must. Know. What. Happens. MUST!
Gripes/suggestions: It honestly didn’t bother me, but I should probably mention there were quite a few typos. I knew what the author meant so it didn’t affect the story for me…but I know a lot of people get bogged down when they see that, so be warned there are more than a handful in here, but it is no reason not to read this book.
Final Thoughts/Rec it? Yes! Tijan has a gift for telling stories like no other, and I love this world and all the characters in it. It’s a great continuation of a series I am so in love with. Have you read it? Let me know what you think And don’t forget to stop back January 9 for the Fallen Crest Public tour and catch a very special interview. Happy reading!
