Sometimes the wrong choice can be just right . . .

Fun and fearless, Cora Lewis knows how to keep her tattooed “bad boy” friends at the Marked in line. But beneath all that flash and sass is a broken heart. Cora won’t let herself get burned again. She’s waiting to fall in love with the perfect man—a baggage-free, drama-free guy ready for commitment. Then she meets Rome Archer.

Rome Archer is as far from perfect as a man can be. He’s stubborn, rigid, and bossy. And he’s returned from his final tour of duty more than a little broken. Rome’s used to filling many roles: big brother, doting son, supersoldier—but none of those fit anymore. Now he’s just a man trying to figure out what to do with the rest of his life while keeping the dark demons of war and loss at bay. He would have been glad to suffer through it alone, until Cora comes sweeping into his life and becomes a blinding flash of color in a sea of gray.Perfect may not be in the cards, but perfectly imperfect could just last forever . . .

**I received a copy of this book from the publisher,
but that did not influence the review**

First Thoughts: 4 stars Look. At. That. Cover. …and I think I might be totally in love with Rome. le sigh.

Plot, Pacing, and Style: Told in alternating POVs between Cora and Rome, we saw how Rome battled returning to civilian life, and all the challenges he faced on a daily basis. We also learned that Cora had a broken heart that made her very jaded. These two seem to butt heads when they first met, but really, it was just crazy hot chemistry. This story takes us down the path of seeing if they have more than just crazy chemistry and can make it for the long haul.

Main Characters: I liked Cora, but I LOVED Rome. I’ll be honest, it’s hard for me to relate to a girl with all kinds of tattoos. Is it wrong? No, it’s just not me so it was a little harder to get in her head. I can admit it though, I’m a total hypocrite and hold guys to a different standard because guys with tatts are wicked hot. It’s ok, judge away, I’m just telling you where I’m coming from. In any case, Rome was not marked up, but he was one fine piece of man.

I did love the way both Cora and Rome were so honest with each other, from their attraction to their feelings. It really seemed like they were always both ready to own any mistakes they made and that made me respect them both so much.

Romance/Chemistry: Oh my. Rome is pure man and I was dying. DYING, my friends. You want to read this. I was having a fit it was so good. Ms. Crownover can write smexy that steams up the pages. GAH!

Title/Cover: Hello. The cover is reason enough you should be buying this book. Holy crap is that guy hot. And let’s be serious, the title is simple perfection.

Ending: It was good…I think, but not what I expected…at all. I wanted a little more of an epilogue, but I’m assuming I will get my answers in the next book so I won’t be cranky.

Gripes/suggestions: I’m not sure I really felt the whole Jimmy thing. I appreciated the story, but it never resonated with me. However, I realize it was important to the plot background, but I don’t think he ever needed to make a trip to the present tense. But really, it didn’t affect my love for the story at all, just made me kind of feel like skimming that part.

Final Thoughts/Rec it? Oh yes, yes, yes. Rome is one fine mofo and you must read it if you love this series.

About the author: I’m supposed to share interesting details about myself so that my readers get to know me so here we go in no particular order: I’m an natural redhead even though I haven’t seen my real hair color in years, I’m a big fan of tattoos and have a half sleeve on either arm and various other pieces all over the place, I’ve been in the bar industry since I was in college and it has always offered interesting insight into how men and women interact with each other, I have 3 dogs that are all crazy, I live in Colorado and love the snow, I love music and in all reality wish I could be a rock star not a writer or a bartender but I have zero talent so there is that.
I love to write, love to read and all I’m interested in is a good story with interesting characters that make the reader feel something.
