About the book:

Twenty-five-year-old Sgt. Gray Phillips is at a crossroads in his life: stay in the Marine Corps or get out and learn to be a civilian? He’s got forty-five days of leave to make up his mind but the people in his life aren’t making the decision any easier. His dad wants him to get out; his grandfather wants him to stay in. And his growing feelings for Sam Anderson are wreaking havoc with his heart…and his mind. He believes relationships get ruined when a Marine goes on deployment. So now he’s got an even harder decision to make: take a chance on Sam or leave love behind and give his all to the Marines.

Twenty-two year old Samantha Anderson lost her husband to an IED in Afghanistan just two months after their vows. Two years later, Sam is full of regrets—that she didn’t move with her husband to Alaska; that she allowed her friends to drift away; that she hasn’t taken many chances in life. Now, she’s met Gray and taking a risk on this Marine could be her one opportunity to feel alive and in love again. But how can she risk her heart on another military man who could share the same tragic fate as her husband?

Note #1 ** We received a copy of this book for the tour,
but we swear on Gray’s naughty mouth and hard body
love for Sam and the Marines that it did not influence the review

Ana and Celeste will put Unraveled on their top shelf!!

Note #2** Ana read the book first, and while Celeste already had a heads up that it was full of naughty talk and deliciousness, Ana confirmed it with this text.

Celeste: 5 dirty talking stars  Oh my. Oh. My. Oh. My. That was a 5 star book just based on Gray Phillips filthy mouth, but really, the story that went along with it was just as awesome, so basically…I LOVED IT! Where to start? I don’t like spoilers so I will just go over the range of feels that I had when I read this, and hopefully it will pique your curiosity and you will want to read it too.

Gray Phillips has been burned by love, and Samantha Anderson lost her love. Both of them certainly weren’t looking for a relationship, but we all know the best kind of love happens when people aren’t seeking it and the chemistry is too strong to deny. Their chemistry is off the freakin charts, people. Off. The. Charts. They kiss almost immediately, and then SPOILER HERE SORRY NOT SORRY and I was like Oh Em Gee, did he really just say SPOILER HERE SORRY NOT SORRY?!?! *rereads that section just to make sure it’s correct for this review because I’m a responsible blogger like that* Why yes, yes he did say that and hot damn, let’s see where this goes. But no, it’s never that easy, especially when two people fight the attraction that feels so right because they have ideas in their head that make them afraid. *takes a breath* So we had to wait a little bit for more of SPOILER HERE SORRY NOT SORRY but it was totally worth it.

It turned out that dirty talking Gray could deliver as well. But the thing was, a dirty talker also likes to hear dirty talk. It was like he unleashed some kind of wildness in Sam and I really wished and closed my eyes and hoped I could be her for like 1 sex session in a Range Rover day.

Then I heard a cough, a rustle, and a slight groan. The sound was different when he spoke too. “Sorry, had to get some privacy here,” he said. “I’m going to need you to go into greater detail.”

~Gray Phillips

In between all the mother lovin smexy times, there were real times. Sam and Gray shared so much of themselves right from the beginning, and I think it was their openness that made them realize how much of pair they were meant to be. I loved watching them enjoy their chemistry and fall in love at the same time.

Ladies, I know that it was probably hard to figure out my review in between all the flails, but if you have trusted me before, now is the time to trust again. It’s got heartache, smexy times with a boat load of naughty, and love. Buy this book!

Ana:  What can I possibly say after that???  Well, here goes nothing!  I had to take a few deep breaths before beginning this review…mainly because thinking of the smoking hot, super-sexy romance between Sam and Gray makes my heart pound and my cheeks turn pink…even several days after finishing this book! Trust me, people, Gray Phillips stays with you!! *deep breath*

Seriously now, both characters had a depth to them that made it easy to related to their emotions and to cheer for them as the story progressed.  Sam is a widow and the burden she carried was a heavy one.  Being so young and having both family and community pressures on her made it difficult for her to move on.  They wanted her to stay the young widow and, at times, she wasn’t sure she could get past it.  But she was strong and meeting Gray helped her see that she needed to go to the next stage of her life.  And she faced her fears and went for it!!

Gray Phillips was broken too.  He’d had to deal with betrayal and no longer believed in giving your heart to someone just so they could break it.  Working through that hurt made him do some silly boy things (that had me shaking my head) but, ultimately, those situations helped him realize that he couldn’t hide himself away.  His commitment to his friends and his country was what kept him going.  His fascination with Sam, helped him move forward!  He was strong, honorable, sexy and, as Celeste so eloquently pointed out, he had a filthy mouth on him that made me blush more than once…actually, many, many times!!  *gulp*  I think Sam said it best… “whimpering, I begged in moans and cries for more.”  Ya…that!! *fans self*

This whole series is great!  Sam and Gray are a fantastic addition to the Woodlands family!  These are great reads…books you should definitely add to your TBR!!
