About the Book:

Have you ever thought of taking a vacation alone? I mean step on a plane, check into your hotel, and lie on the beach completely and utterly alone. No? Me either, but then right before senior spring break I got dumped.
Something about break ups makes you do things you didn’t want to do, and try things you didn’t know you were capable of.

That’s how I ended up at the Palm Palace. That’s how I met Grey.

That’s how my spring break turned into the most unforgettable week of my life.

Review:

Ana will put Kissing Eden on her third shelf!

3.5 stars.  This was a fun, quick read.  It made me wish for sunny days and pretty beaches and handsome strangers.  The story takes place over the 8 or 9 days of spring break and, because of that, everything about the book was fast…relationships were built quickly, friendships formed at breakneck speed and trouble starts on page one.  And, in part, that’s what makes it a great escape!

I enjoyed both Eden and Grey, the main characters in this book.  Eden’s life has just been turned upside down by a nasty (and surprise) breakup and so she decides she needs time to regroup…by taking the spring break vacation she’d originally planned with her ex.  As you can imagine, not all goes smoothly.  I enjoyed the fact that Eden was strong enough to go ahead with her plans even after encountering another obstacle in her path.  And, we see this strength from her over and over again in the book.  A nice change from the needy main characters who permeate other books I’ve read.  Grey has the weight of the world on his shoulders.  Running the family motel and trying desperately to make it a success with very little time, money or support can certainly be daunting, but his commitment was evident.  The chemistry between Eden and Grey was good although, due to the plot, a bit too rushed for me.  They certainly brought out the best in each other, I just wish there had been more time for some build up before the sizzle.

The secondary characters here were great!  I especially loved Connor and Pick.  They brought the humor to the story when it needed it and made not only Eden but the reader as well feel at home.  It would be very interesting to get a story around one of them in the future.  Although at times, this book felt a bit predictable, overall, this was a light, fun read with interesting characters and a charming romance.  The weather’s getting nicer…you might want to check it out on your next visit to the beach!!
