Title: Price of a Kiss
Series: Forbidden Men
Author: Linda Kage
Published: August 2013

I don’t care what my cousin says; I am not the queen of impossible relationships. I mean, just because my last boyfriend tried to kill me and left a bit of a scar on my neck, then forced me to move across the country and legally change my name to Reese Randall to escape him, does not mean—

Oh, who am I kidding? For a freshman in college, I have to have the worst dating track record ever.

It’s no wonder love is the last thing on my mind when Mason Lowe enters my life. But the chemistry between us is like bam! Our connection defies logic. And he’s just so freaking hot. Being around him makes me feel more alive than I’ve ever felt before. I even like bickering with him. He could be my soul mate…except for one teeny tiny glitch.

He’s a gigolo.

Boy, do I know how to pick them.

Ana will put Price of a Kiss on her second shelf!!

I enjoyed this book!  The storyline was unique, the characters were strong and

their situations were interesting, and the writing was smooth.  This story grabbed me from the very beginning and continued to hold me throughout! Now, where to start?!?!

Let’s talk about Reese first.  She sure knows how to pick ’em.  Her last boyfriend was a psycho who tried to kill her and now she’s head over heels for a guy who’s…get this…a gigolo!!  No…really!  You’d think that a character like Reese might be weak or annoying or maybe just a bit loopy but, in reality, she kicks butt!  She’s intelligent and funny, she manages to look on the bright side of situations, and she’s willing to give her heart even after having been so wrong about love in the past.  She’s be great to have as a friend!  Now, let’s chat about Mason.  Sigh…Mason!  He’s stuck in his current situation because of his commitment to his mother and sister.  He tries (mostly unsuccessfully) to fight his attraction to Reese because he feels unworthy of her and he wants better for her.  It’s enough to melt your hear

“See, your laugh is exactly what’s keeping me away, woman. I just want to kiss those lips and hoard that sound all to myself.”

As you hear about Mason’s story you can’t help but feel for him.  He’s doing all he can to give his mom and sister a good life and, in return, he’s leading a tortured life…treated by some as a play thing and by others as a leper.  When Reese and Mason come together, it’s the little things that make the difference…the looks, the hugs, the acceptance.  The romance is a slow burn with friendship first and it’s just perfect for the story.  It literally changes Mason’s life.

“Every woman treats me that way, Reese. I’m not a person to them. I’m just…a good time or something vile to be avoided at all costs. And then you came along and you… you hugged me.”

The chemistry these two have is fantastic and, as a reader, I rooted for them from the very beginning.  I realized that overcoming the fact he’s a gigolo might be difficult for Reese, but I still urged her on and I was very happy with the way the story ended up.  Before I forget, I should also mention that the secondary characters were great as well!  I loved Reese’s cousin and Mason’s sister.  Both these characters added depth to the book and I enjoyed that they had small storylines of their own.

Overall, this was a quick read with wonderful characters, a great storyline and a sweet, yet hot, romance.  If you enjoy that sort of thing (and who doesn’t?!?) go read it!  You won’t be disappointed!!
