Synopsis: A jaded Chicago reporter in her twenties unexpectedly finds love in Napa Valley when she’s assigned to spend a week with a famously reclusive genius in this rich and deeply satisfying contemporary romance by the USA TODAY bestselling author of Sweet Thing. Kate Corbin has lost her spark. A year ago, she had a handsome boyfriend and a budding career as a reporter at a popular Chicago newspaper. But after the woman who raised her passed away, leaving her lost and alone, she fell into a rut—and never got out. Now she’s stuck writing fluff pieces about lipstick and wine, and feeling trapped in a relationship that’s going nowhere. Trusting that the hungry, ace reporter is buried somewhere deep inside, Kate’s boss and mentor gives her the opportunity to jump-start her career. The assignment: spend a week interviewing R. J. Lawson, a famously reclusive tech genius who disappeared years ago but recently reemerged as the owner of a well-respected Napa Valley winery. Kate jumps at the chance, but the trip begins in disaster, both personally and professionally. After alienating R.J., her only saving grace is Jamie, a charming vineyard hand who shows her the beauty of wine country—and stirs her aching heart. It doesn’t take long for Kate and Jamie to fall hard, and for Kate to rethink her life in the city. But the week ends with a heartbreaking journey back to Chicago that sends Kate reeling, wondering what went wrong in those four perfect days.

**I received a copy of this book from the publisher, but that did not influence the review**
5 hold my heart stars I loved this. I might be clutching my heart right now because it’s so happy. Nowhere but Here is a beautiful love story. So simple, but yet so full of depth. Ms. Carlino writes words that are music to my soul…I’m telling you, the words just resonated and touched me deeply. I have read Sweet Thing and now Nowhere but Here and I know this: Renee Carlino’s writing style is absolutely beautiful.
So many stories are told in dual POVs these days, and while I certainly love it, it was nice to only be in Kate’s head here. But don’t let that fool you, we still got to know Jamie pretty well because of all his interaction with Kate. He was so deliciously (and shamelessly) open with how he felt about her that it was impossible to not feel like I didn’t know him, not to feel like I didn’t want him too…he was infectious.
One of the million reasons I adored this story so much was because I fell in love with both of the main characters: Kate and Jamie. Kate was in a funk and had some issues with finding direction in her life, which made her to waver back and forth a little more than I personally every would have, but still, the author wrote her in a way that made it so that I still always felt like I was in her shoes. I really became her. I loved her spontaneity, and the times when she threw caution to the wind and went with her gut feelings to make decisions it was glorious. Jamie was so amazing the entire time and the only sad part is that I wish someone like him were actually real.
I don’t always mention the setting, but here, the Napa setting was amazing. All of a sudden all I want to do is go to a winery and have a sexy glass of Pinot Noir and go swimming and get whipped cream…and yeah. all that.
So the story was perfect and even though many things were predictable (to me at least), it didn’t matter because it was told in such a way that made it impossible for me to put the book down. Of course the perfect story had the prefect ending… and then there was the the epilogue, yes, perfect again and be still my heart. The romance in this book is off the charts!
I would rec this a million times over. It will touch you, make you fall in love, and remind you of what’s precious. Perfection!
