Ana will put No One’s Hero on her second shelf!!
I need to start this with a couple of confessions. First, I didn’t realize when I started this book is that it’s the second one in a series. It’s not necessary to read them in order but, in truth, I would have been slightly less confused if I had read the first book. I would have better understood the situation that these characters were facing and spent less time wanting more details. However, my second confession is that, even with my periods of confusion at the beginning, I still enjoyed this book very much.
Once I figured out why Kevin’s presence was so important in Lexi’s life, everything fell into place and I let myself enjoy the interactions between these two great characters. And I must admit that it had me wishing for a bodyguard of my very own. Lexi is feisty, strong and intelligent. And, after living in her sister’s shadow, all she wants is time to enjoy life and be herself. Kevin is strong, honorable and intelligent…sweet and protective. All good qualities in a bodyguard and a book boyfriend! The interactions between Kevin and Lexi were fantastic. The banter felt real and there was both humor and sincerity in the things they said to each other. They really played off one another well and helped each other grow.
This story has all the elements you want in a good book including characters you’ll love, a good storyline and great writing. And, underneath the main storyline, the subplots provided some mystery as well. I enjoyed the dual POVs because, as always, I was curious to hear how each of them felt about the situations they were in. And, of course, I love to hear what characters are thinking…especially the things they don’t want to say out loud. Overall, this is a good, quick read…but do yourself a favor and read book one first!
