About the Book:
Left for dead in the fields of rural Oregon, a young woman defies all odds and survives—but she awakens with no idea who she is, or what happened to her. Refusing to answer to “Jane Doe” for another day, the woman renames herself “Water” for the tiny, hidden marking on her body—the only clue to her past. Taken in by old Ginny Fitzgerald, a crotchety but kind lady living on a nearby horse farm, Water slowly begins building a new life. But as she attempts to piece together the fleeting slivers of her memory, more questions emerge: Who is the next-door neighbor, quietly toiling under the hood of his Barracuda? Why won’t Ginny let him step foot on her property? And why does Water feel she recognizes him?
Twenty-four-year-old Jesse Welles doesn’t know how long it will be before Water gets her memory back. For her sake, Jesse hopes the answer is never. He knows that she’ll stay so much safer—and happier—that way. And that’s why, as hard as it is, he needs to keep his distance. Because getting too close could flood her with realities better left buried.
The trouble is, water always seems to find its way to the surface.

And she’s done it again! K.A. Tucker has given us another book that you can’t put down…a book that piques your curiosity, that pulls at your emotions and that captures your imagination. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I needed to know exactly what had happened to Water and, with every morsel of information that the author provided, I built a picture, I came to conclusions, and I fell in love with this story and it’s characters.
From the very first page, the mystery of Water was carefully crafted by the author. She provided small glimpses into Water’s past, tiny clues into what had happened and what potentially may have happened. Ms. Tucker allowed me the luxury of hearing the story in dual POVs and provided me with the opportunity to solve this mystery on my own…slowly unraveling who Water was and why she ended up left for dead in the woods.
The characters in this book were well crafted, each with a specific role to play in the overall story and their own perspective (and, in some cases, even secrets). Since this story was told from both Water and Jesse’s points of view, and in the present and the past, I felt like I got to know them intimately and was able to share in their emotions as I followed their story. Water is stronger than she believes and, having to face a life of complete uncertainty, she’s still able to move forward. Jesse is a victim of his past transgressions. He’s moving on with his life but still feels the weight of his past on his shoulders. When these two meet, the sparks fly…but there’s so much working against them. Their chemistry is undeniable and the angst they both feel as the story progresses is palpable. There is so much good in their relationship and, at the same time, so many hurdles to overcome.
I feel like I can’t tell you much more than that. I want to…trust me…but this is a book that needs to be experienced without spoilers. All I can say is that this story will capture your heart and your mind. And, this is a book that definitely needs to be on your TBR!! Don’t wait…go now!!
