Title: The Hook Up
Author: Kristen Callihan
Series: Game On
Publisher: self-published
Published: September 8, 2014
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance

Synopsis: The rules: no kissing on the mouth, no staying the night, no telling anyone, and above all… No falling in love.

Anna Jones just wants to finish college and figure out her life. Falling for star quarterback Drew Baylor is certainly not on her to do list. Confident and charming, he lives in the limelight and is way too gorgeous for his own good. If only she could ignore his heated stares and stop thinking about doing hot and dirty things with him. Easy right?

Too bad he’s committed to making her break every rule…

Football has been good to Drew. It’s given him recognition, two National Championships, and the Heisman. But what he really craves is sexy yet prickly Anna Jones. Her cutting humor and blatant disregard for his fame turns him on like nothing else. But there’s one problem: she’s shut him down. Completely.

That is until a chance encounter leads to the hottest sex of their lives, along with the possibility of something great. Unfortunately, Anna wants it to remain a hook up. Now it’s up to Drew to tempt her with more: more sex, more satisfaction, more time with him. Until she’s truly hooked. It’s a good thing Drew knows all about winning.

All’s fair in love and football…Game on.

**I received a copy of this book,
but that did not influence my review**

4.5 stars Drew Baylor. That’s all you need to know. Trust. Buy this book.

Ok, ok, kidding. I know you want more details. While Drew is my “official” reason this book is so amazing, the next reason is the way the story was told. Ms. Callihan’s writing is what made The Hook Up so special. While the story itself wasn’t full of surprises, the writing made the characters come to life and I felt invested the entire time. When words can transcend beyond the page..that’s what makes a book stand out for me.

Anna was great heroine and I loved her…most of the time. She did frustrate me on several occasions. I just couldn’t understand her logic or why she felt the need for a pity party. She couldn’t get over herself, and while it would have been a bigger turn off to have false confidence, her lack of it after a while did grate on me. Yes, this is one teeny tiny flaw and she is human but I just want you to know everything. I didn’t think her high school lack of friends situation was as dire as she made it out to be. But really, I adored her most of the time and hope you do too.

Drew is delicious. As I said before that is all you need to know. He is totally hot, smart, athletic, NAUGHTY, and deep. *sings* I loved him!

The chemistry between Anna and Drew was pretty ridiculous. As in it started in the the opening scene. I know right? Yes. That soon. I loved that I felt all the tingles and heart pitter patters from the beginning. Yep, totally awesome sauce. Even I was worked up and sweaty and gawking and I wanted to jump their bones too. You might say, doesn’t the smexy times get old after a while? Nope, not in this story.

Aside from the kissy times there were sweet times, tough times, and hilarious times. HILARIOUS. That tattoo made me snarf and I am giggling about it right now just typing it. The banter was great and showed how their relationship was the whole package.

The ending was great, I could sense what might happen, but I still enjoyed watching it all play out. It didn’t take away from it at all and I savored every single word.

Not only did I fall in love with Drew and Anna, there were some other characters we met as well, like Gray… and I can only imagine the dirty sex trouble he will get into for his book. He is definitely a man whore (I’m SO on board with that) and doesn’t seem to have any intention of stopping so right there I can’t even stop myself from fantasizing about the amazing woman that will steal his heart. I am all over it when that book comes out!

Rec this? YES YES YES!
A great addition for all you New Adult addicts out there.
