Title: The Coincidence of Callie & Kayden
Author: Jessica Sorensen
Series: The Coincidence
Publisher: self-published
Published: December 13, 2012
Genre: new adult contemporary romance, with sensitive subjects

Synopsis: For Kayden, suffering in silence was the only way to survive. If he was lucky, he could keep his head down, do as he was told, and make it through the day. But one night it seemed like his luck — and his life — might finally end… until an angel named Callie appeared just in time to rescue him.

Callie has never believed in luck. Not since her twelfth birthday when everything was taken from her. After the worst was over, she locked up her feelings and vowed never to tell anyone what happened. Now, six years later, she continues to struggle with the painful secret that threatens to consume her.

When fate lands Kayden and Callie at the same college, Kayden is determined to get to know the beautiful girl who changed his destiny. Quiet and reserved, Callie still fears letting anyone else into her world. But Kayden is certain that Callie has come back into his life for a reason. And the more he tries to be a part of her life, the more he realizes that, this time, it’s Callie who needs to be saved…

5 I’m absolutely speechless stars Oh my goddddd. I loved this. I loved the heartbreak, the pain, the healing, the trusting… I’m telling you, every single word written was amazing. There is a reason Jessica Sorensen is my “go-to” author when I’m not sure what I want to read…and every single time she hits it out of the park. She writes emotional stories that just speak to my heart, my soul…they just plain out are amazing.

I don’t want to tell you any more about the story than the synopsis does because I want you to savor Callie and Kayden’s journey on your own. However, I will tell you that when you read this, your heart will expand and contract more than you thought possible, and for so many reasons. Both Callie and Kayden have suffered horrible, terrible things. That is a tragedy in itself, but then how each of them deal with it makes is all that much more heart wrenching. But then the healing starts. It’s slow, it’s little by little, but it happens and it’s glorious.

The romance is simply amazing. It’s so pure and good, which makes me glow just thinking about it. It was absolutely lovely and paced in a way that made me swoon like you wouldn’t believe. It was perfect. ♥

It doesn’t stop there…the secondary characters are outstanding. I adored Seth and I adored Luke. They both have chemistry with their friends without being over the top. I think one of my favorite moments was at the end when Kayden asks Luke to have his back, and after a few questions Luke agrees even though he doesn’t know why. A totally loyal and faithful friend, and that too made my heart so happy. I cannot wait to read their books.

The ending was O.M.F.G. Yes, that ending was brutal, but thank you baby jeebus that I have book 2 in hand. There’s so much more to happen I can barely wrap my head around it.

Rec this? A million times yes. If you love deeply scarred, yet healing and emotional stories with an epic romance, this is a must for your TBR.

Happy reading!
