I gasp as my body curls toward Brennus like a flower to the sun, for the pleasure of it. He holds me close to him. His nose grazes the length of my neck. He breathes me in. I feel the roar and rush of my heartbeat. I’m his toy; his energy streams into me. He winds the invisible key in my back and the euphoria ratchets and coils inside of me: tick…tick…tick…
Another wicked surge of energy flows from him into me. Pain. Pleasure. Bliss. My jaw unclenches as my lips part. I make a small, breathy sound as we dance. Brennus responds with something close to a growl. “Ye’re killing me, mo chroí,” he murmurs. His hand moves down my back infusing me with a golden glow of power. My wings punch violently from me, tearing a hole in my day dress. They spread wide, like a red stain beyond my pale skin. I’m dancing now for the thrill of it. I follow his lead.
As the song comes to an end, Brennus kisses my throat. He whispers in my ear, “When ye get back, come find me, mo chroí. I’ve healed ye…now wake up and banjax whoever banished ye here…”

Ana will put Iniquity on her top shelf!!!
Let me start with a confession…and an apology! I’ve had this book on my kindle since before it was released and, as a good blogger, I should have reviewed it long before now! So, for the delay, I am sorry. However, I have a very good reason. I was scared. No, really!! I’ve loved this series from the very beginning and I didn’t want it to end. I understood that, once started, I would not be able to put it down and would, ultimately, have to embrace that it was over. The end of Evie, Russell, Reed, Brennus, and all the others, was too big a commitment. But the book kept staring at me and, recently, I decided it was time. So, after putting on my big girl panties, cleaning the house, doing the laundry, running errands, running more (fake) errands…and eating a few cookies…I finally could put it off no longer. So I dove in, heart beating wildly…
And this final installment did not disappoint. The adventure was grander, the twists and turns were fast and furious, and the mystery continued to deepen even as I knew we had to be heading for the conclusion. The characters once again wrapped me around their little fingers and didn’t let go until the very end. There were many ups and downs here…I smiled, I was teary, I was confused, angry and afraid…and I fell in love all over again. Ms. Bartol’s writing was fantastic, the world-building exquisite. I enjoyed every moment I spent between those pages! I’m not going to tell you what happens in the end or give you the play by play of the story. You need to experience this on your own. Just know that I’ll be here if and when you need me!
The end of the adventure, the romance, and this magical world is certainly not the end of my commitment to this story, these characters, or this author…all of whom have taken up residence in my heart and refuse to budge. Truth be told, I never want them to leave. Thank you, Amy Bartol, for giving me a wonderful story to escape into, amazing characters to fall in love with, and a series I can revisit over and over again!!
P.S. For those of you who have not read this series…two things. One…you absolutely, definitely should start right now!! And two…Russell is MINE, MINE, MINE…you have been warned!!!
