4.5 sweet and sexy stars

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this book, but I knew it would be good. I loved Ms. Brown’s writing in The Lessons and after getting to know Natalie and Ryan I needed to know Ainsley and Lambo’s story. I knew I’d like it, but I didn’t know I’d LOVE it. I did. *flails* It’s the way the story left me feeling that makes it a top shelf read for me. But if I had to specifically say why this was a home run, I think it was the way it was written. The words just flowed…and the chemistry between Lambo and Ainsley was amazing on so many levels. It wasn’t an overly complicated story, but it was done effortlessly and the way it made me swoon is why Elizabeth Brown is now officially a go-to author for me.

Lambo was some fierce kind of sexy mofo. His name is awesome and so was he. Sexy, rich, confident, a man-whore (go ahead, judge me I don’t care), athletic, rich…the list goes on. But he was more than all those tasty adjectives, he came alive for me and zomg…I want me some Lambo Christie please and thank you.

Ainsley…she definitely had her demons…and I actually wanted a little more of that. A little bit more of the struggle. If you know me, you know I love raw, dark and gritty, rip your heart out kind of books. While what happened to Ainsley was all that and more, it was only mentioned in passing, the reader never really lived through her heartache except one episode…but I still needed more. However, it was still so good and I learned that Ainsley was a layered person with lots of depth and baggage and Lambo was honored to be a part of it. He loved her for her and it was beautiful. le sigh.

The romance was so good. *squeezes all the things* It had the right amount of sweet as well as smexy times (and RAWR the smexy was smoldering btw!). It was always hot even though on a few occasions it did seem a bit unrealistic and cheesy. However, I felt the attraction the whole time. The few moments of over the top…well I just went with it. Then there was the romance side of things – the declaration of love is always a tricky one to get right…but Ms. Brown nailed it *insert adolescent giggle*. It was perfect and totally Lambo and Ainsley – true, honest and real.

As far as secondary characters go I obviously loved Natalie and Ryan. I wish Natalie had been the one who was Ainsley’s confident. I have to admit I could not stand Winnie. I loved Natlaie’s Josh in book 1, but this one and her rude mouth annoyed me. She wasn’t funny. Eep, I’m sorry! However, you have to know that really it was inconsequential because I loved this book.

I feel like you should know the heavy issues that I mentioned Ainsley had gone through…well they are REALLY heavy issues…so if abuse of any kind is a trigger please be aware this might still be too difficult to read and maybe this might not be a good fit for you.

The ending, oh the ending was a blissful HEA. It wasn’t rushed, it was real, and it made me swoon. I got to bask in its goodness. Any bumps in the road were quickly smoothed over and I got all that and then some. I know there’s going to be a 3rd book in the series but I think it’s a secret who it is about. I’m dying to know and can’t wait to add it to my TBR. You should too.

Rec it? Hell yes! A sweet, sexy and swoony story that will leave you with all the feels.

Happy reading!
