He’s Paxton Wilder. Twenty-two-year-old, tattooed, smoking-hot leader of the Renegades. Five time X Games medalist. The world is his playground—especially this year—and for the next nine months I’m stuck as his tutor on the Study at Sea program. He’s too busy staging worldwide stunts for his documentary to get to class. But if I can’t get him to take academics seriously, I’ll lose my scholarship…if I don’t lose my heart first.
Six unlikely friends on a nine-month cruise with the Study at Sea program will learn that chemistry is more than a subject and the best lessons aren’t taught in the classroom…but in the heart.

As someone who’s watched the X games and is in awe of the skill and talent these athletes have (*waves at Travis Pastrana*…you know, just in case he’s reading this review!), this book was right up my alley. Paxton Wilder is an extreme athlete who’s currently making a documentary to take his career to the next level and, at the same time, he’s trying to keep his grades up so that the funding he needs for the movie isn’t pulled out from under him. He’s also got a family to deal with, some secrets he’s trying to keep, and some friends he wants to help. With so much on his shoulders, he can’t handle it all himself. This is where Leah comes in. She’s a smart, sassy girl who’s been through a lot and, in order to move forward, is taking charge of her life. She’s landed a gig as Pax’s new tutor and, lucky for us, their chemistry is instantaneous and hot! Add to that a mystery to solve, and the fact that this story takes place on a cruise ship traveling the world, and this book had me hooked from the very beginning.
So…now that’s we’ve talked about the story, let get to what I really want to discuss. I’m wild for Wilder! And I’m crazy for Paxton! In reality, that’s just one guy…but throughout this story we see two distinct sides to him and both made me happy! Wilder is the leader of the Renegades, a risk taker with a sexy smile and a love for dangerous stunts. Paxton is sweet, has a big heart, is protective of his friends, and will do whatever it takes to make them happy. When you put both sides together, Paxton Wilder is the perfect book boyfriend!! *sigh*
I loved how the story unfolded and how the characters interacted. I really enjoyed the dual POV…hearing the story from both sides made it that much more engaging. Pax and Leah weren’t afraid to have the difficult conversations (which is such a breath of fresh air in books these days) and were honest about their feelings. The banter between them was fun and I enjoyed each and every adventure. Also, as a reader who appreciates it when authors take care with secondary characters, I was happy to see that they played a big part in the story and I’m really looking forward to reading more about the rest of the Renegades.
Overall, this is a great beginning to a new series. It had adventure, mystery, secrets and, of course, romance! I’m already invested in the Renegade “family” and I can’t wait to see what the next book brings. After all, this book got my adrenaline pumping and my heart beating and I know the rest of the stories will do the same! So, give this book (and this awesome author) a chance…I think you’ll really enjoy it!
