A dangerous proposal

Las Vegas Mafia boss, Nico Toscani, is used to getting what he wants, whether it is having the City of Sin under his rule or a beautiful woman in his bed. But when he meets his match in the gorgeous, headstrong Mia Cordano, the daughter of a rival crime lord, all bets are off. . .

Sexy computer hacker, Mia, struggles to break free of her ruthless father’s Mafia ties…but she can’t resist the powerful and seductive Nico, who will stop at nothing to possess her. With their families locked in a brutal war for control of the city, Mia and Nico enter into a forbidden game. Will they surrender to the passion that burns between them—and risk tearing apart their families? Or will Nico be forced to betray the only woman who sets his blood on fire?

I was totally in the mood for a gritty mafia romance and this cover may have totally caught my eye. *cough* Nico was a fast paced, suspenseful, not for the faint of heart, hot and sexy mafia story that had me turning the pages into the late hours of the night.

There were a lot of characters and while they were supposed to each have one role, many of them played multiple ones and didn’t stick to the script…which is what made for a great story. A story that was fairly complex, but even with myself (the lazy reader) I think I had all the main ones down quickly. I loved how Ms. Castille made me hate so many of the slimy ones, especially Mr. Cordano. Omg I HATED him. I knew while I was reading that so many were so very evil, and they truly came alive before my eyes. I also could almost smell the weak ones. I won’t say who…but oh man, his wavering insecurity jumped out of the book. Then there were loyal and strong ones. Their confidence radiated off of them as well. The author truly has a way of developing the cast and bringing them all to life.

Let’s talk my favorite two characters though, Mia and Nico. I loved them. The conflict presented between them was so full of tension and energy… and made it feel like it was harder to breathe every time they interacted. Part of it was because they were forbidden to get together and the other part was the insane attraction they had.

Which now makes me want to talk about their attraction. Sweet lawd baby Jeebus. The sizzling vibe between Mia and Nico was hot from the start, crackling with sexual energy and innuendoes. Then there was the naughty talk. Hello, Mr. Toscani, you sexy mofo you. He had quite the mouth on him and I loved it. Mia was no timid woman either, and she gave it right back which only fueled Nico’s fire more. On fiyah!!

Anything I wasn’t as crazy about? The 3rd person POV was probably the main thing. I am just so partial to 1st person, I always feel like it makes me closer to the characters. There was also a secondary story, and I read it at first, but by the end I was skimming it more. It was just a little too heavy on the job details and didn’t hold me as much as Mia and Nico. However, it was still really important, which I knew it would be, but it didn’t grab me as much.

The ending was good…a fantastic HEA even with a plot so stacked. The romantic in me felt my heart squeezing as I got to roll around and bask in Mia and Nico’s love. However, there are still so many other stories still waiting to be told. I’m already looking forward to the next installment, Luca, due out spring 2017.

Rec it? Yes! Especially if you love dangerously sexy mafia stories with layered storylines and plenty of surprises — this is a fantastic addition for your TBR.

Happy reading!
