You know what does not make perfect sense?  Reading a book that’s 12th in a series without having read any others! lol  Yup, I decided that it was perfectly acceptable to start here and, thankfully, not having read the first 11 was not an issue.  I was lucky enough that the story can easily stand alone, and meeting some of the characters from previous books made me curious about their stories.  This was a pure and simple romance with some heat and very little angst.  This made it easy to read and enjoy.

Flynn is a sexy football player who’s just opened a restaurant.  Amelia is the head chef in that restaurant and, as you can well imagine, they begin to develop an attraction for each other.  He’s had bad luck with ladies who only want him for his celebrity and what that could do for them, and she’s just coming out of a bad marriage.  Of course, neither is anxious to get into a relationship but their chemistry is too strong to ignore.  I enjoyed their interactions and their banter.  Flynn is flirty and the type of man who goes after what he wants.  Lucky for Amelia, he wants her.  She’s a strong woman who’s piecing her life back together and focused on being successful at her new job.  Together they bring out the best in each other.

This was a quick read and followed a fairly common story line.  There wasn’t much in the way of angst and drama which is good when you’re looking for a straight forward romance.  The twist was not a big surprise and I found it a bit slow at times where there was more explanation than was  strictly necessary.  However,  it was an enjoyable read about two people who needed to learn to trust again.  The characters were easy to love and root for and the story line mixes two things that most of us enjoy – sports and food.  Overall, it was sweet, romantic, sexy, and fun.
