I received this book for free from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
The bestselling Ethan Frost series introduces a tantalizing new hero—and the broken woman only he can save. Discover why Beth Kery once declared that readers of Tracy Wolff will “fall in love under the spell of a master.”
When Tori Reed loses everything, he sets her free.
I told myself I’d never trust Miles Girard, no matter how brilliant or sexy he may be. His sister, Chloe—Ethan Frost’s wife—is my best friend, but I know just how low Miles will stoop to get what he wants. Now he’s the last thing I want: my boss.
Growing up, I had it all—except for the sense that I belonged. And when a mistake from my past surfaces in the press, my parents don’t hesitate to cut me off.
But surprisingly, Miles offers me a helping hand.
Before I know it, our relationship turns unprofessional in the hottest ways. Of course, he still drives me crazy. But when I’m dealt the ultimate blow, Miles is there for me. And maybe he’s the one I’ve been looking for all along.
Loved it. This is the 4th book in the Ethan Frost series but can be read as stand alone, and now I have to go back and read the first 3. The plot was simple, yet the writing was so well done that it kept my attention the whole time and before I knew it I was at the epilogue. That, my friends, is the sign of a good story and an author who has talent.
The characters Tori and Miles were engaging both on their own, but especially together, which is why the the chemistry was so real. And HOT. I think that is why the attraction worked for me, it had so much depth. Let me tell you – the kisses were the main attraction in this show. Yes, yes there was some really hot smoking sex, but the kissing was absolutely divine. Miles can kiss. Oh boy oh boy oh boy can he kiss. And everything came out in the kisses. Every tender emotion and every naughty desire. Every smexy time started with kissing that just got more intense. And of course there is the dirty talk. Oh hell yes it was good.
The secondary characters clearly were the first part of the series that I haven’t read yet. While explained enough there is so much more I want to know about Chloe and Ethan’s story. I don’t think their road to happiness was an easy one, and anytime I can read about characters that heal each other I’m all over it. *adds to TBR*
The cover, while hot, didn’t quite fit for me. I know the author didn’t pick it out, but I’m still putting it out there. I am not really a fan. It doesn’t represent Miles to me. He was quietly powerful and perfect, and this makes him look like a cheesy playboy. Is it pretty? Well yes, but I didn’t think it suited the story.
The only other teensy thing was that some parts were a little unbelievable, like the intelligence and resources of Miles and Ethan, but the author didn’t get bogged down on extraneous details so it ended up working out really well. Some of the arguments from Tori’s side were a little ridiculous for me, but I guess we needed some conflicts to have the characters “get to the other side” and find their HEA. I went with it and I’m so glad I did because the book in its entirety was pretty much a perfect read for me.
The ending was lovely, I felt so very satisfied and the epilogue made me even happier. It wasn’t rushed and I got to bask in it all. My heart felt so good.
Rec it? YES! If you love a hot read with characters that will make you fall in love this is a great series. I can already tell I want to go back and read Chloe and Ethan’s story.
