Love is just around the corner . . .

Sweet, shy Mara Hanover is in love with her neighbor. For four years, she has secretly watched her dream man from afar. Handsome police detective Mitch Lawson is way out of her league. She's a girl from the wrong side of the tracks, and there's no way a guy like Mitch would want anything to do with her. But when Mara has a leaky faucet that she can't fix, it's Mitch who comes to her rescue.

Mitch has been eyeing his beautiful neighbor for a long time. He jumps at the chance to help her, and soon their formerly platonic relationship gets very hot and heavy. But when Mara gets a disturbing phone call from her cousin's kids, she gets pulled back into the life she's tried so hard to leave behind. Can the hot law man convince Mara to let go of her past-and build a future with him?

Mitch Lawson, I LOVE YOU. This series is starting to take on a life of it’s own for me and that is a magical thing. It’s been a long time since a series has drawn me in, where I can’t wait to read the next book. You know that glorious tingle when you are done with book one, but not sad because you know you can start the next one? Yep, I’m loving this feeling.

Kristen Ashely writes in a way that draws me in. It’s the characters, their voices, the world she builds. Somehow she got all that across so effortlessly and I found myself hopelessly invested. Either an author can do this, or they can’t, and Ms. Ashely can SO DO THIS. This story is about sexy officer Mitch Lawson, who is just going about his business until the timing was right to make his move on ultra shy and insecure Mara. Mara is not only incredibly socially awkward in Mitch’s presence, but she has a lot of family baggage that she tries to deal with. Mitch swoops in to help, and along they way she grows confident and we got that amazing HEA. You’ll have to read the story to bask in the goodness of the details, and it will be oh so worth it.

I loved Mitch in Hawk’s story, and I loved him even more here. In fact, I loved Mitch so much I skipped book 2 to read this first. Mitch is so, so so bossy and arrogant, and it was so hot I seriously can’t even really fully wrap my head around. That’s right, Baby, I can’t even. He was so confident I couldn’t’ believe it, but I also couldn’t stop swooning because there was still such a tenderness about him. Oh jeez, I loved him. His use of authority and the liberty he took was so freaking hot. I can’t say enough, this man was all that and then some.

Mara, I loved her, but she frustrated me the same way she frustrated Mitch. She was so insecure it was cringeworthy. It took a lot for her to believe in herself, but I believed it and loved how it played out. I was rooting for her the whole time, but I did want to kick her in the pants a few times because everything she could ever want was right in front of her.

The romance was so so so good. The slow build up was exactly the stuff I love. The physical relationship was very slow going, but that actually made it so steamy. Every single touch and kiss was electric. Trust me on this.

The storyline itself was just moving along, until suddenly it took a major turn and got very intense. I did not see it coming and I really liked how it tied into the story I knew from book 1 (yes, I skipped book 2 because I HAD to read Mitch next so I may have missed something, but the story can totally be read as stand alone). The ending worked out and then some, and I was fuzzy all over.

Rec it? YES!! If you love romance, and this whole series is sucking me in, this is a must for your TBR. I can’t rec this series enough. Now I’m back tracking and diving into Brock’s story….because hello, another smexy officer? YES PLEASE!! Thank you for writing this series, Ms. Ashley.

Happy reading!
