Book blogging is the best…but it does have one drawback! Sometimes, you have so many commitments that books you want to read get left behind. This book is over a year old now and it’s been on my TBR from the very beginning. I really enjoyed the first book in this series and was excited for Razor and Breanna’s story. But, the aforementioned over-commitment issue kept pushing it down the list. And, boy, was that a mistake…this was a fantastic book!
As I had known I would, I fell in love with Razor and Breanna from the very beginning. Even though they were so very different, deep down they shared some very similar pain. This story about two people from different world who shouldn’t even see each other, let alone fall in love, touched my heart deeply. There was so much emotion here. From the MC family that wanted to bring Razor deeper into the fold, to Bre’s family who, for the most part, didn’t seem to care about or appreciate her, there were so many emotional ups and downs in this story. And I haven’t even touched on their forbidden love. My heart definitely experienced some whiplash here, alternating from happiness to pain, from fear to confusion, and from anger to bliss…and doing it over and over again page after page. The characters grew so much during this journey and seemed so very real even though their lives and mine couldn’t be any more different. I loved Razor’s honesty and his desire to protect Breanna. My heart went out to him for the hurt he still felt about his mother’s death. And I sighed at the gentleness with which he handled Bre and how he seemed to understand her like no one else did. She made him softer in some ways and he made her braver. Perfect match!!
MC books are not normally my thing but Ms. McGarry’s series brings so much to the table that I may just have to reconsider my stance. Well, maybe not, but I’ll certainly follow this series for as long as the author wants to write about these awesome characters. I loved Oz in the first book and I loved Razor even more…I can’t wait to pick up the next book and see what she has in store for me. If you haven’t read these books, do yourself a favor and pick them up. If you do, I have a feeling you and I will be flailing over them together very soon!
