She's about to walk on the wild side . . .
While filling the display case in her bakery, the bell over the door sounds and Tessa O'Hara looks up to see the man of her dreams. Within thirty seconds he asks her out for a beer. But after four months of dating, she discovers he's an undercover DEA agent-and he's investigating her possible role in her ex-husband's drug business. For Tess, this means their relationship is over.
Brock disagrees. He's committed to his anti-drug mission, but he's fallen in love with the beautiful woman who's as sweet as her cupcakes-and he'll do anything to win her back. Standing between Tess and Brock are their own exes, one of them a drug lord who's determined to get what he wants. Now as danger threatens, can Brock break the rules he's lived by and let loose his wild side to protect the woman he loves?
I know I said I loved Hawk, I know I said I loved Mitch, and Tack is great….but OH MY GOD, Brock Lucas, he’s the one for me.
This is my fourth Kristen Ashley book in one week. I might have a problem. Who am I kidding? There’s no problem here – this is heaven. I’ve read the Dream Man series out of order so I HAD to return to book 2. Brock Lucas, who we met in book 1, briefly registered a little bit, but it wasn’t until this story that I totally fell in love. Out of the four books Brock is definitely the hottest…He knew what he wanted and didn’t mess around. I think my favorite part about Brock and Tess was that neither of them ever played games. There was drama in their life that was crazy, but the two of them were so straight up about how they felt which was so unbelievably refreshing, romantic and made for massive swooning.
Brock is definitely all kinds of sexy manly man. He was a bit rough around the edges, kind of cranky, but at the same time he was so smitten with Tess. Without giving away too much of the story, these two met on a work related case for Brock, but they were meant to be together. Tess and Brock both had baggage, related, but in different ways. It was how they each worked through it, even when their baggage kept coming back after them that made this story.
Test was great. She was strong, she was beautiful, she was smart and she was so good. I absolutely loved her, and she is exactly how I like my female characters to be. I respected her and loved how she wore her heart on her sleeve. It didn’t make her weak, it made her real. I wanted to be her, I wanted to be her best friend. She was awesome.
Together these two had a fantastic chemistry and their banter back-and-forth was pretty amazing. Sometimes it was so meaningful, and sometimes just plain out hilarious and so smart ass. I could see just see how witty Ms. Ashley is. The romance was fantastic as every single touch and kiss had so much meaning. For some reason I thought these books would be a little sexier? But a lot of it was fade to black and that’s fine, but the explosive attraction along with Brock’s dirty mouth left me wanting a little more detail. I guess I am greedy and nosey, I admit it. However, I couldn’t help falling in love right alongside them.
There were multiple storylines going on in this, and yes they all tied together. I was always waiting for the other shoe to drop, and of course it did. However, I never knew if it was going to get bigger or worse the next time around. I have to say there was an end scene which was very intense and I really really would have liked to have seen the reunion, not read about it as an afterthought in the epilogue. I did get my HEA, but I am such a greedy reader I would have loved to read the the proposal in detail…what can I say, I loved Brock and Tess something fierce and I needed to know all. the. things!
Rec it? Hell yes, absolutely! These characters are amazing, and the romances are divine. Kristen Ashely’s writing is fantastic and this world is one I don’t want to leave. If you love a fabulous romance with a guy who is rough around the edges but sweet inside, this is the book for you.
