Get ready to ride . . .
Tyra Masters has had enough drama to last a lifetime. Now, she's back on track and looking forward to her new, quiet life. Until she meets the man of her dreams. The tattooed, muscled biker plies her with tequila-and the best sex of her life. She knows it isn't the tequila and hot sex talking. He's the kind of man she's always wanted. Unfortunately, he's also her new boss . . .
Kane "Tack" Allen has a rule. He doesn't employ someone he's slept with. So when he learns he spent last night in bed with his new office manager, he quickly fires Tyra. Yet when Tyra stands up to him and fights for her job, Tack is intrigued. He tells her she can keep her job on one condition: no more sex. Ever. But as things heat up between them, Tack finds that he'll be the one breaking all the rules…
Well, I finally finished this series and I absolutely loved it. While this book was pretty good, it was probably my least favorite of all four. I’ve never been a fan of motorcycle club books, however this one didn’t have the same vibe that others do. I’m sure they could be violent, but this club seemed a lot softer.
Tack was very bossy just like the rest of the men in the Dream Man series. He was rough around the edges, which isn’t bad, but he was in a way that I didn’t care for as much. Brock Lucas was rough around the edges but he pulled it off and was absolutely my favorite. So… I’m not really sure what it was about Tack that I just didn’t like as much. I did like him when I met him in the first book (when he had his eyes on Gwen) but then I got to know him here….and I just didn’t care for him. He he was very arrogant and I don’t think he actually liked Tyra. I think he only liked her because she gave him attitude. That was obvious from the beginning. He really just wanted her for a one night stand, so I guess I just never bought into their chemistry. His actions danced the line of being abusive. I know he always “had a reason” and explained everything, but I just couldn’t justify it. He was abusive physically and emotionally and it just didn’t sit right with me. Tyra fell for it I guess, but I didn’t so I just didn’t enjoy their chemistry. He said she was feisty – but all I saw was her caving into him and believing him every time he had an excuse. The final straw for me, which I can’t say because it will spoil, is a type of “signature move” Tack does. Well, he does it more than once, and he does it as the book ends and I 100 percent did not buy it because it was weird.
Tyra was an all right character, but I think she was so lonely and fell in love with Tack which blinded her. I don’t even know that I buy her “baggage”. Why would someone hate her so much? That whole part of the story was very skimmed over and it didn’t make sense to me. However, I could see that she had insecurities and how she wanted a man to take care of her.
The romance was strange – it was really based on playing a game and I’m not sure how much chemistry there was because they had sex the first night they met. After that it just seemed he was kind of dirty, and not necessarily in a good way but more of a “he’s been around” and it was a bit icky to me. Then there was a bit of dirty talk aaaaand it just did not work for me. It was more crude and just kind of gross. I don’t know – Brock had a different way of expressing himself and it was fine.
The secondary characters in this book were Tabby and Rush, Tack’s kids. I really liked them and could see how they were trying to be strong even though they were still kids. Tabby quickly had a huge affection for Tyra and I can appreciate that and loved it. We saw Elvira and she’s the same!
In the end I read this book because it was part of the series, but I found myself not attached to these characters in the same way that all the other couples drew me in so intensely. Rec this? Yes! Because if you love this series it’s still a good read. Some people found Tack to be their favorite out of all the Dream Men so I couldn’t tell you if you would like him or not as much as I did. He definitely brings something different to the table as has a different personality. Regardless of this one, I loved this series and cannot wait to read more books by Ms. Ashley!
