The Murphy’s Law Series – Book 1“Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong.” – Murphy’s LawExpectationAidenI’m a doctor. Not just any doctor. I’m an OB/GYN, so I know my way around the female anatomy. It goes without saying, I’m pretty comfortable around women. That is, until one particular bespectacled beauty makes me incredibly uncomfortable. And suddenly, I’ve got no clue whatsoever what to do about this particular woman.GrayI did it. I had a one night stand and now all the warnings my momma gave me are coming true. I’m pregnant and he’s not really into relationships, let alone the instant family kind. So, I’m going it alone in Ireland, a country I’ve only just moved to, and ready to be a single mother, until my search for a doctor leads me right back to him.

*Note:  This book was provided to The Book Hookup by the author but that did not in any way influence this review!

What would you do if the one time you let loose, and had a one-night stand, you got pregnant?  Well, that’s what happened to Gray.  To add insult to injury, it turns out that the doctor she gets sent to turns out to be said one-night stand.  So, based on that, you’d think that this book might be fluffy and fun…and it was at some points.  But, it also surprised me with great characters and some drama that may or may not have made me misty (ok, I’ll admit, it did make me misty).

Gray and Aiden meet at a bar and are supposed to never see each other again.  But, of course, that doesn’t happen.  They’re thrown into this life-altering situation and need to figure out how to make it work.  Neither of them is looking for a relationship and, in fact, Aiden always does his very best to stay away from them.  So, you can only imagine how difficult this situation is for both of them.  Aiden is a good looking, swoony, sexy doctor.  He’s focused on himself and doesn’t come off as a guy who would make a great dad…which is funny since he delivers babies for a living.  Because of his initial cockiness, I enjoyed his transformation all the more as the story progressed.  Gray is a girl after my own heart – a curvy librarian who likes books almost more than she likes people.  She has a hard time letting go and coming to terms with Aiden’s desire to make a go of their relationship.  I must admit that I was a bit frustrated by that at times but I could also understand her hesitation.  The relationship building here was a slow burn.  Towards the end of the book there’s a twist that will have your heart beating and your eyes tearing up.  I won’t tell you what or how…just be prepared.

Overall, this was a good read.  I enjoyed the characters and the situations.  The story definitely captured more of my heart as it progressed and things got serious…it was definitely a journey.  This is my first book by this author but I will definitely add her other books to my TBR.
