Lauren Layne brings all the unpredictable heat of her USA Today bestseller Blurred Lines to an all-new cast of characters! Country music’s favorite good girl is hiding away from the world—only to find herself bunking with a guy who makes her want to be a little bad. Jenny Dawson moved to Nashville to write music, not get famous. But when her latest record goes double platinum, Jenny’s suddenly one of the town’s biggest stars—and the center of a tabloid scandal connecting her with a pop star she’s barely even met. With paparazzi tracking her every move, Jenny flees to a remote mansion in Louisiana to write her next album. The only hiccup is the unexpected presence of a brooding young caretaker named Noah, whose foul mouth and snap judgments lead to constant bickering—and serious heat. Noah really should tell Jenny that he’s Preston Noah Maxwell Walcott, the owner of the estate where the feisty country singer has made her spoiled self at home. But the charade gives Noah a much-needed break from his own troubles, and before long, their verbal sparring is indistinguishable from foreplay. But as sizzling nights give way to quiet pillow talk, Noah begins to realize that Jenny’s almost as complicated as he is. To fit into each other’s lives, they’ll need the courage to face their problems together—before the outside world catches up to them.
Another fun, sweet romance from Lauren Layne. Once again I got exactly what I was expecting from this author…a sweet love story with a bit of heat, some great characters, and some humor to boot! This is the kind of book that warms your heart and makes you smile.
When Jenny, a music star and the country’s “darling” gets into some hot water that’s not of her own doing, she’s forced to hide out for a bit…at least until things cool down. Enter Noah. He’s got a whole lot of his own baggage. As guy who’s trying to figure out where he belongs and what will make him happy, he’s taking time to think as he refurbishes the house that Jenny is renting. Neither of them wants anyone in their lives and neither is ready to deal with romance. Lucky for us, Ms. Layne is in charge of these two and she understands that they’re perfect for each other. As we watch them come to terms with their attraction, there are several obstacles in their way that threaten to ruin the shiny new feelings they have. Thankfully, they’re strong enough the deal with what comes at them. I really enjoyed their interactions and their banter and it was great to hear the story from both of their points of view. Jenny and Noah had great chemistry and their relationship had some steamy moments that made my heart go pitter-patter! I loved the secondary characters in this story as well and enjoyed their interactions. Noah’s friends made me smile and laugh each time they entered the story. I also fell in love with the dogs. They added depth to the story…these characters and their relationships with their pets felt so real.
Whenever I pick up a book by Lauren Layne, I look forward to the romance, the humor, the swoony book boyfriends, and the storyline that will touch my heart. This book was no different. Ms. Layne is a go-to author for me and I, for one, will always pick up her books. I look forward to reading the rest of the books in this series and and falling in love with more of these great characters.
