A brand-new standalone novel in the New York Times bestselling Briar U series!

What I learned after last year’s distractions cost my hockey team our entire season? No more screwing up. No more screwing, period. As the new team captain, I need a new philosophy: hockey and school now, women later. Which means that I, Hunter Davenport, am officially going celibate…no matter how hard that makes things.

But there’s nothing in the rulebook that says I can’t be friends with a woman. And I won’t lie—my new classmate Demi Davis is one cool chick. Her smart mouth is hot as hell, and so is the rest of her, but the fact that she’s got a boyfriend eliminates the temptation to touch her.

Except three months into our friendship, Demi is single and looking for a rebound.

And she’s making a play for me.

Avoiding her is impossible. We’re paired up on a yearlong school project, but I’m confident I can resist her. We’d never work, anyway. Our backgrounds are too different, our goals aren’t aligned, and her parents hate my guts.

Hooking up is a very bad idea. Now I just have to convince my body—and my heart.

I was so happy to be back at Briar University with the gang…the sexy, funny hockey players, the smart ladies, and the laugh-out-loud shenanigans they get into.  This book, like all the others before it, had a me smiling from the very first page.  No matter what I’m feeling, a quick trip into a world created by Elle Kennedy always makes everything better.

In this book, we’re treated to the story of Hunter and Demi.  Hunter, who’s great mess-up cost the team the championship the previous year, is doing everything he can to make sure he’s completely focused on hockey and on his team.  He doesn’t need the complication of sex or of a relationship.  The good news is that Demi has a boyfriend and they can be friends…or does she…can they?  Once Demi’s relationship ends, she’s looking for a rebound and Hunter is in her sights.  The push and pull between them is fantastic and the chemistry is undeniable.  I loved watching them grow closer and experiencing their ups and downs.  These two were meant for each other and I really enjoyed watching them come to that realization.

As with her other books, not only do we get to enjoy the main story, but we also get to hear about our other favorite characters in the series and what they’re up to.  I loved hearing about Hollis and his nutty romance with Rupi…those two crack me up.  It was also great to meet Connor and I hope that he gets his own book in this series.  Of course, Pablo was an interesting new character and, in this edition, even the coach made me grin.  If you’re looking for a book (or a series) that’s a light, fun read then look no further.  Elle Kennedy’s world will definitely win you over!
