It’s what gets Jasmine Li out of bed every morning. She’s determined to overcome the injury that has derailed her career in ballet, the only love she’s ever known. She can’t afford to allow a baseball player to distract her, no matter how hot and persistent he might be.
Will Campbell defines the word. It’s what makes him a successful pitcher and it’s helping him learn how to be a single dad to a little girl with plenty of trust issues. Just his luck, the one person his daughter—and his heart—finally respond to is a stubborn, sexy ballerina with plans that don’t involve relationships or children.
But Will didn’t become the best closer in the majors by giving up. He knows what he wants and what his daughter needs, and he’s going to get it. Jasmine Li has met her match…and he’s playing for the win.
5 STARS!!! Quite simply, I loved everything about this book. The characters were so real, the storyline captured my attention, and the writing was fantastic! I’m pretty sure I’ve read every single one of Raine Thomas’ books and she continues to provide me with stories that captivate and warm my heart. This contemporary love story about a baseball player with a daughter who need some special attention and a ballerina who’s facing the harsh reality that her dreams won’t come true was equal party heartbreaking and hopeful. I witnessed these characters battle, break, and grow…and I loved every minute of it.
Will and Jasmine had a rocky start to their relationship because of Will’s protectiveness of Katie, his young daughter. However, as these two were forced to be together, the sparks flew and the chemistry was unstoppable. I adored Will’s soft heart and his commitment to his daughter and later to Jasmine. He is such a good soul. The challenge of balancing both the needs of his family and his career took a lot out of him but his determination to do both to the best of his ability was admirable. He cared deeply about all of those around him. Jasmine’s determination to regain her career was both inspiring and agonizing. I wanted it so badly for her but I also just wanted her to be happy. These two had many ups and downs, their road was certainly not easy. However, I enjoyed watching them overcome the barriers and move forward, always doing not only what made sense for them but also what was best for Katie.
This is one of those stories that I wanted to reread the moment I finish it. The characters climbed inside my heart and tugged at every string. Their story brought tears to my eyes while still providing me with hope that all would be well. I enjoyed the secondary characters as well and found they added depth to this lovely story. If you haven’t read a book by Ms. Thomas, this is a great place to start…trust me, you’ll love Will, Jasmine, and Katie as much as I did!
