I’ve had this book on my Kindle for a while and I’m not sure what took me so long to dive in…but I’m very glad I did. This was a lovely story that dug into some very real life issues. Romance and commitment once someone is a parent can be difficult and confusing and Ms. Regnery explored this in a very gentle yet steamy way. Actually, this book was spicier than I thought it would be…and I’m completely good with that!
This story had lots of emotion and pulled at my heartstrings. Although it’s a romance, the underlying family drama was intense and definitely made the book feel very real. I loved Luke. The way he cared for his children and wore his emotions on his sleeve was, well, sigh inducing. He wanted his own happiness but he was cautious when it came to his children’s hearts as well. Amanda was a strong character and I think these two were made for each other. Although I think she made a couple of decisions that might have been presumptuous, it came from a good place and I don’t hold that against her. The chemistry here was strong and I enjoyed watching them jump the hurdles they faced and find their happy place.
Ms. Regnery has given us a sweet single father story with lots of love and romance, a fantastic family to fall in love with, and that bit of steam that we all enjoy. Add to that the feelings, both happy and sad, that it brings and you’ve got a great read. Lucky for us this is the just the first book in this series…plenty of other Alaskan adventures to dive into!
