From the New York Times bestselling author of Pucked and A Lie for a Lie, a new stand-alone romance about trading favors, battling wills, and winning love. When I joined Seattle’s NHL expansion team, I thought it was the start of something great. But nothing ever goes the way you expect. Take my introduction to my new neighbor. She came rolling in on the hot mess express at midnight, making a racket while she tried to get into my team captain’s apartment. Did I mention that he’s married to a woman who definitely was not her? Imagine my surprise when I end up with an injury that has me out of the game for weeks, and she’s the one to offer to help me. I should probably add that she’s not the captain’s mistress. She’s his sexy, pastel-haired younger sister.
So we come up with an arrangement: she rehabs me so that I can get back on the ice sooner, and she can add a professional athlete that isn’t her brother to her client list. Seems simple enough. As long as I can keep my hands to myself and my hormones in check.
I really enjoyed the first book in this series but I totally loved this one! Somewhere among the feels, the sexiness, the tension, the hot chemistry, and the laugh-out-loud moments I lost my heart to Bishop and Stevie. This enemies to lovers story captured my attention and quickly became one of my all time Helena Hunting favorites. There’s just something about a dueling couple that sets off just the right amount of sparks and keeps me glued to the pages.
I loved Bishop and his somewhat cranky outlook on life. He has a lot riding on his shoulders, both professionally and personally, and he’s allowed it to make him more serious than necessary. Stevie is just the right person to help him embrace a more light-hearted outlook and it doesn’t hurt that he’s ridiculously attracted to her and that their chemistry is through the roof. Stevie has lived in her brother’s shadow and really wants to be taken seriously. She doesn’t need one of her brother’s teammates in her life right now but she just can’t look away from Bishop. And so their adventure begins – they need each other, they are good for each other, and (to quote a movie we all know) they complete each other. These two are a fantastic pair.
This is a light-hearted story that also manages to pack a punch in the feels department. There’s enough serious storyline here to mess with your emotions a little bit but there’s also enough fun to keep you smiling and enough romance to have you sighing. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what the author has in store for us in the third installment of this series…lucky for me, it’s already on my kindle!
