Jonah Daniels has enough work preparing for his hockey season without spending time interviewing a roommate to help share expenses. So when some dude answers J.D.’s ad and agrees to his terms, he puts a key under the mat and leaves for practice. What he doesn’t expect is that his new roommate is not a dude at all, but an overtalkative, energetic hottie. What’s worse? She’s the younger sister of his friend on the team, and she’s sworn him to secrecy. Ryann Reiner needs a place to live, stat. After an incident at the dorms that almost tanked her scholarship, Ryann wants a boring roommate who’ll leave her alone. J.D. almost fits the bill. He lives and breathes hockey, just like her brother, and he wouldn’t know a joke unless it hip checked him against the boards. He’s also gorgeous. And broody. And he looks fine on laundry day, in too little clothing. Soon, late-night study sessions turn into dangerous flirting. And then a kiss turns into more. But they’re determined to keep things in the feelings-free zone.
Until lines blur and tensions rise when Ryann’s brother learns the truth. And both their hearts are skating on thin ice…

There’s a name mix up…and these two shouldn’t be living together. But Ryann and Jonah need each other, even though they don’t see it immediately, and so the adventure begins. Of course, the reader is treated to glimpses of their chemistry and watches the sparks fly right from the very beginning. It takes them a little longer to figure it out but it was definitely an enjoyable road to travel with them.
Ryann is desperate to stake her independence and show her brother that she can make it on her own. However, being attracted to Jonah, one of his hockey teammates, is not the way to do that. So, what’s a girl to do? Well first you resist…then, when you can’t do that any longer, you give in…but you definitely keep it a secret. And this proves to be difficult for both Ryann and Johan but definitely fun for me. Jonah is focused, so very focused, on his team and his future and is dealing with his parent’s drama. He can’t afford the distraction that Ryann brings into his life but he can’t hold back the attraction for long. He has rules…and she breaks every one of them much to the reader’s approval. These two bring out the best in each other and I enjoyed both their banter and their internal monologues.
I really liked the romance, and the heat, in this story but I would have also loved a few more pages to explore Jonah’s family issues and his relationship with his mother which was such a huge part of this character and why he behaved as he did. But maybe that’s just me…I always want more. Overall, this was a fun read with characters who had their fair share of obstacles to overcome. Another great addition to the Moo U universe…and another new-to-me author. This is proving to be a fantastic series!
